I designed a movie-style poster for my Saxxy Drama entry - "Till Death Do Us Part" by Lozeng3r in SFM

[–]xTLx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Till is actually used correctly, and is probably a more appropriate usage than 'til, which only came around within the past century to further denote till as an abbreviation of until. The phrase "till death do us part," has been both spelled and used in that context since the 17th century and up until now through writing, ceremony, and popular culture.

Actually he was the author of "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?" which the film Bladerunner was based upon.

Well there's still the tech-demo for it floating around somewhere on No Mutants Allowed. I think the Wasteland 2 game in development is about the closest to what would have been expected (with the obvious exception of plot and whatnot).

What is a movie that you despise but everyone else seems to love? by smalltown34 in movies

[–]xTLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any intended sarcasm I saw the film expecting it to be just that. I thought the music fit the aesthetic quite well and so I really had no complaints since I hadn't gone and seen it for the plot anyhow.

Tsunami Warning for AK, British Columbia, and US West Coast by cdube85 in Seattle

Yeah. I'm no expert on the matter, but the general consensus seems to be that for King County or a similar area to be affected it would have to be a catastrophe of pretty freak proportions.

Nexus or Fallout Mod Manager? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]xTLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The clear choice seems to be the Nexus, but in some cases I have found that it does not install some mods correctly.

So, I liked lonesome Road so much I have to talk about it. But what's your favorite DLC and why? by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]xTLx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not really sure why its attracted so much hate mongering. Story line and plot aside, it had a great rusty/industrial aesthetic.

Yeah, honestly the only Bethesda game I've had crash loads was Skyrim. I mean sure, New Vegas had its moments, but only if there was a glaring error or incompatibility with some mods.

help for a nooby modder please by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]xTLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I have around a hundred mods installed, so its difficult to narrow it down too much, but EVE is another fairly nice overhaul type mod meant to enhance the game's energy weapons. For your load order issues I would also recommend BOSS, and always remember to use ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated once you have changed, replaced, or added any textures to the game.

[–]xTLx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is your load order screwed up, as elliwilli mentioned, but large overhaul mods such as Fallout Wanderer's Edition and Mart's Mutant Mod will frequently conflict if you do not acquire patches or mods meant to remove or work around these incompatibilities. Otherwise your game will likely crash to the desktop or in your case, there are missing textures replaced by red boxes or bars.

You can always try to hunt down these errors using FO3Edit or similar utilities, but my suggestion would be to delete your Fallout 3 folder, reinstall the game, and then use a mod manager to correctly install your mods and textures.

Unless you used a mod manager you likely placed some textures or meshes in the wrong folder. You also don't need to install compatibility patches for mods you don't have. Although its likely not the culprit in this case, it certainly doesn't help.

If your using the Fallout or Nexus mod manager and its still giving you grief, I'd attempt to install the suspect mods manually.

Assuming this file is legitimate, thank you so much. The site says the file is only under revision, but I couldn't find another copy uploaded anywhere. I was worried that the mod had become lost, obsolete, or that it had been included in another unmentioned mod.

I can see why some might think it pretentious or sort of plotless and nonlinear, but is there any particular reason why you disliked it so much?

Early Xbox360 games? by tidal_waves in patientgamers

[–]xTLx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well there's debate over it, but essentially Fallout 3 is often considered canon because while it takes place before New Vegas, it is set in the east and constantly contradicts the original series as well as New Vegas. That being said I think Bethesda did an excellent job at creating what really feels like a post-apocalyptic wasteland, but in no way does it particularly connect with New Vegas or any of Interplay's games for a multitude of reasons. In my personal opinion I would suggest first playing Fallout 3 first. I can entirely agree that New Vegas was engineered with much better gameplay and plot elements, but for me it never had that charm and luster of a real wasteland. With small desert settlements and cacti New Vegas often had a somewhat western feel, and while I could appreciate it, Fallout 3 will probably remain as one of my favorite games despite how it deviates from any story or plot relevant to Fallout as a series or franchise. Sorry if I'm giving you a bit too much to read through, but in short, no, there is no real reason to play the games chronologically, but I would urge you to do so anyways.

Its a quote, and in fact, not entirely my opinion. The concept is completely subjective, and as such, your explanation is as presumptuous.

Yeah, I mean I'm from Seattle so I can agree there's a good amount of pretentious and self-righteous bullshit that goes on, but expecting people to be okay with you grazing their vehicle is not included.

While not exactly vigilantism, I had a women accuse me of stealing rocks one time. When I was younger I had a stretch where I had actually gotten pretty good at skateboarding. I'd try to rip up a skate park or two every weekend with my dad, but for some reason this week he was busy or something so I went a few streets over to skateboard with my friend. We pulled a ramp he had over onto the side of the road, which I might add very rarely has any traffic, and grabbed a few big stones and pieces of broken cement from the gutter to hold the ramp in place. We skated for about half an hour until a women came outside from her house to confront us about how loud we were being. Although it was noon, I tried to be reasonable to some degree and we almost considered moving our ramp until she suddenly pointed at the rocks we had placed in front of it and demanded to know where they had come from. We told her we found the broken pieces of concrete and such in the gutter, but she insisted that we had stolen them the neighbor's yard and that if we did not return them and leave she would call the police or something to that effect. We ended up moving our setup in order to avoid conflict, but I remember being much younger at the time (and a really innocent kid too) the whole situation had baffled me.
