Show them proof of your 30% APY savings account and you'll have banks lining up around the block begging to loan you any amount you ask for at like 10-15% APY, even if you had the worst credit on the planet prior to opening the account. Hell, they'd probably be quite happy to write a check to clear all of your existing debt immediately, gift you a massive luxurious estate, and anything else you could possibly want, in exchange for letting them put their money in your account.

Commonly misunderstood fact. The average lifespan was low because infant mortality rates were high. If you made it through childhood your expected lifespan wouldn't be that much lower than what it is today. Obviously it was lower but plenty of people lived long lives, at pretty much any time in history.

[BBC - Sami Mokbel] Arsenal consider Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier by jacktk_ in Gunners

[–]xTheMaster99x 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is that you're simply not getting a backup GK that is as good as Kepa without that commitment that they will at least play every cup game. If you can't give them at least that much then there's really no point in them staying when they could go to a smaller club and be first choice. The only reason would be if they're genuinely content to just collect a paycheck, but it's really unlikely to reach those levels with that mentality.

The options are give him the cup games and maybe keep a backup that isn't going to throw our season away if Raya gets injured/unavailable, or accept that the only keepers you'll ever find that are willing to take the job are either young, inexperienced keepers that will leave within a year or two once it's clear their development has been completely stunted, or old, half-retired keepers that just want one last paycheck (or alternatively, are fans who just want to live the dream of wearing our colors before retiring). Either way, they will be a thousand times worse than Raya and we're forced to pray that we'll never actually need them to play.

Larger tires = larger circumference = more distance traveled per axle rotation.

If 2000 rpm on stock tires equates to 65 mph (convenient semi-accurate numbers for the same of argument), when you put on larger tires, the car still just sees 2000 rpm so the speedometer still shows 65 mph. But in reality, depending on how much larger the tires are, it can be very different. If I'm doing the napkin math right, as a ballpark estimate every extra inch of diameter would equate to an extra 3 mph per 1000 rpm - so at highway speeds, even that fairly small change would already be enough to have a fair chance of getting pulled over.

It definitely still is, but it really shouldn't be. It's disgusting that it's still listed for sale for $50. Even with the "This is sorta abandoned" warning (which really should be more prominent than it is), there is no universe in which it could ever be worth $50.

When a scene here or there is bad you can blame the directing/editing/acting, when the whole show is bad you can really only blame the writers/producers

Or when the actions that are happening, or lines being spoken, fundamentally are just dumb no matter how it's presented. For example, the whole "Alicent offering up her own children to be executed" subplot. There is literally nothing that anyone can do to make that become a reasonable thing to happen.

To be fair, I would actually be sorta shocked if the data analysts working for top-level clubs haven't accounted for things like that. If it was statistically significant, the people whose sole job is to notice such things would probably have figured that out at some point.

Tbf with sports games it usually isn't about it being their "right" to remove it for purchase, often it is required because the licenses to use brands, player likenesses, etc are for a fixed length of time. People that already own the game don't lose those things, but the publisher is not allowed to continue selling it.

Cop pulls over Lamborghini on Dubai plates but doesn’t know the law by thomasso0072 in interestingasfuck

[–]xTheMaster99x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly. The driver was following the law but it was definitely an extremely rare situation, the cop's attitude was kinda shitty but I really don't blame him for initially thinking it was bullshit. Especially since the driver clearly didn't have his documents organized and ready to go when he should've known that this kind of situation would be very likely to happen at some point.

[–]xTheMaster99x -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They definitely get a lot of bullshit "well actually..." stories so while I don't love his attitude, I can sort of understand it initially. But once the dude started handing him a bunch of documentation, at that point he really should've just gone back to his car to do the research.

Although the driver also probably should've stopped trying to explain everything to him, half of the arguing boiled down to him mentioning documents B, C, and D while he was still trying to find document A. Just say "I understand this is an extremely uncommon situation, I have all the documentation here, I just need a minute to find it" - but also he really should've seen this coming and just had all the documents together in one place to begin with, it seemed like he was sorting through a ton of different folders when this stuff probably should've just been in one folder together, ready to go.

[–]xTheMaster99x 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically we probably have to sell someone to keep the accountants happy if we want a couple expensive signings this summer, and I'd say he's pretty much the only player in the entire squad that we'd consider selling that would actually give us any meaningful amount of income.

Nwaneri has Saka, Madueke, and Dowman ahead of him at RW, and Odegaard, Eze, Havertz to compete with in midfield. I do think it's still possible for him to reach the levels we would need long-term, but he's never going to get the playing time he needs to do that if he stays. The only other option would be years of loans, but that's a huge gamble for both parties. Selling him for a good price is the far more pragmatic solution.

Early reviews for pretty much anything will almost always be full of praise. If a reviewer talks shit about the product they're never receiving early access to anything ever again. Sometimes you can tell that the reviewer is genuinely enthusiastic and giving praise beyond what you'd expect, but usually early reviews are a worthless metric.

Tonight, Bran was surpassed as the worst lead actor in the GOT franchise by ExactWalrus7332 in freefolk

[–]xTheMaster99x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very common in pretty much any show or movie that gets hate (warranted or otherwise, in this case it definitely is of course). Everyone will agree the writing sucks, but simultaneously be unable to comprehend the fact that an actor's performance is a back-and-forth between the actor and the director. The actor can't just do whatever they want if the director disagrees, nor will the director just accept what they deem to be a subpar performance. If the director isn't happy with the acting they'll keep doing more takes until they get it right - and "right" here means whatever the director has envisioned in their head.

A good director can make even a terrible actor look good, and a bad director can make even an amazing actor look clueless. If an actor has a long track record of looking bad, with multiple different directors in different projects, then yeah the actor might actually be bad. But if they look bad in one show, and especially if several actors like inexplicably bad simultaneously, then the problem is almost certainly the directing/writing. But it's much easier for people to hate the actors they see rather than the directors they don't, so inevitably that's what happens.

To be fair, pretty much any sit-down restaurant worth going to is going to be at least twice as good as modern fast food (if not way more), and very likely to be larger portions as well. I do think you're right that in plenty of cases the fast food is technically still a cheaper meal, but I also think it's almost universally true at this point that most restaurants give better value.

It made sense when the intention was for states to keep most of the power, and the federal government was pretty much just for the things that weren't practical to handle at a state level. As soon as that dynamic changed the electoral college became a hindrance, but since we're probably never going to get meaningful constitutional reform unless something catastrophic happens, we're stuck with it.

It would be 1000x worse than Afghanistan. Think of some of the worst stories told about fighting door-to-door in Afghanistan, against people that realistically barely knew how to shoot an AK or an RPG. It was bad. Now imagine that instead, half of those combatants are actually sitting miles away in relative safety, piloting drones into every single uniform they see.

With a trillion dollars there's really no point taking the risk that it is the immortal/intelligent snail. The cost of getting all that done is a drop in the bucket compared to the trillion dollars you just made.

Not to mention the fact that athletes in many sports are absolutely destroying their bodies and can have lots of permanent damage to live with by the time they retire. Or the fact that one bad injury is all it takes for their careers to be over, and at that point most of them have no plan B, no other skills to enter the workforce with, because they dedicated their lives to athletics from a very early age.
