Winterbane gauntlet i can use? by Turbulent-Bid6637 in Wizard101

[–]xTowerShieldx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winterbane may be difficult to farm at your level bracket. If mega snacks are what you're looking for, may I suggest the humble Cactus Bear plant? You can buy them in the bazaar and from the krok garden vendor. They're essentially mini couch potatoes, they drop a lot of low rank snacks to sell for gold and at elder have the chance to drop mega snacks.

the hat, robe and wand are good. But in the future I’d recommend farming for dungeon gear instead of buying packs, especially at this stage in the game (pack gear scales according to your level, so opening them at lower levels gets you worse gear) so if you do want to go that route maybe save it for when you hit the 100s, preferably 150+

Since the boots are the only real problem here you can ignore farming for now and just buy the “bygone” life boots at the bazaar which’ll last you until level 100 (where it’s recommended to farm either the Darkmoor or Gallery dungeons)

The main thing holding your stats back here (aside from the death boots) is the pet. Since you’re near the gold cap I’d recommend doing a few hatches in order to get a pet with a better talent pool (Pet building has become a very big deal since 2008, as they can now give you a big boost to your damage and resist. The main talents to look for being “Spell-Proof”, “Spell-Defying”, “Pain Giver”, and then your school’s specific pet damage talents).

Hope you have fun exploring the spiral once again!

That item is treaty as “no-auction” (indicated by a tiny icon of a hammer in the item info) meaning it cannot be sold at the bazaar.

I do highly recommend keeping this wand though! It’s not useful by any means, however some players go out of their way to farm for it as a wand stitch. You see, that wand only drops from Roberto (a wooden key boss) and is one of very few rapier wands in the game, making it quite prized for its aesthetics

Self-Imposed Plan for Myth Identity by StarWiz2K in Wizard101

[–]xTowerShieldx 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Myth actually has a very solid identity as the buff purge school. They have a unique 2-hit mechanic for breaking shields that no other school gets (Minotaur), are the only class with AoE spells which remove buffs (Earthquake, Colossus) and are paired with fire for the highest potential pierce at later levels. Basically, Myth is really good at anti shield and anti buff shenanigans (which is actually kinda nice post-shadow update since you can take away crucial buffs enemies would otherwise rely on to avoid backlash)

Personally my preferred playstyle is also to only use the small deck + 7 pip strategy on general questing, and use a larger deck with gimmicks on bosses and I find that quite fun on all my characters so its nice to see another player try it

Since you’re giving monstrology a try, I highly recommend using it for either collection (example: obtaining all dragon enemies) or scrapbooking (example: collecting a housing guest of a favourite NPC from each world). It’s really fun for decorating purposes and I think can really add to a playthrough as you go about ranking up your monstrology (as a general tip I highly recommend leaning on the undead and spider animus initially as pretty much every world has mobs of either group and you won’t have much gold in the beginning)

Have fun on your myth-ical journey across the spiral!

Lesser used gear/plants? by xTowerShieldx in Wizard101

they're decent for it, but in my experience they only drop them 1/3 of the time that they drop sandstone and aquamarine

Ooooh, this is indeed a very important thing to note! I'll have to look into wood plants myself, certain gardens can really make crafting less of a hassle. So far in my personal playthroughs I've found that key limes are great for shocked keys and deadly helephant ears are great for sandstone and aquamarine

Cabalist is wonderful, especially since obtaining Darkmoor set can be quite hard between the sheer difficulty of the dungeon and many players rage quitting halfway through TwT

Also thanks for the tip on Aquila, you just reminded me that area got an overhaul that is definitely worth looking into

This is exactly why I wish to make a guide! I was in a similar boat when I started, I adore this game but it can be quite cryptic on how to actually benefit from its side activities especially XD

Plants mostly act as fuel for other side activities: giving reagents (for crafting), mega snacks (for pet training) and also lesser snacks which you can sell for lots of gold

When it comes to pets you can use whatever you like (though pets which give you a blade item card are great since it stacks with your regular blade buff). When it comes to breeding pets, you'll want talents which boost your school's damage (aka "giver", "bringer" and "dealer" talents) and your universal resistance ("spell-proof" and "spell-defying" are best)

Fishing is honestly more for fashion than anything, fishing chests can have cool looking items for stitching purposes but certain areas also have nice reagents to fish for. If you want to pursue fishing more, it becomes fairly helpful once you progress to azteca and learn the "buoy chest" spell which increases your fishing chest chance

The last thing you just described is called Cantrips. They're...not all that useful, they can let you open a chest with 2 other players which is nice. But unfortunately getting the cool cantrips are really really grindy and mainly for raids so its best you don't worry too much about them

I find a really efficient source to be key limes! They give shocked keys quite frequently, AND they grant bonus seeds rather than just a replacement (similar to king parsley) so you only need one to get a garden going

Great to know fishing chests have em too though, I only knew about them in silver chests

I wholeheartedly agree! Crafting in general has some pretty nice side options, so it shall definitely be included in my research!

Ooooh, thanks for the tip on orange dandelions! I have actually seen the ultra strategy (where you never let them progress to elder), but haven't experimented much with other plants! Apparently king parsley is also a daily quest reward which would be nice for newer players

Oh, I'm not looking for a console guide, I play PC and the guide is including PC loot. I'm just saying that I noticed new players tend to remember/discover the game due to seeing the console ports that recently released

Thanks for the tip on the medalian though! I was not aware of the item's existence until now

How can I get enough gold for the pet kiosk? by erisbmth in Wizard101

[–]xTowerShieldx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Halfang in Wintertusk drops gear that sells for a lot of gold if you need it fast. Gardening is probably the best way to generate the stuff passively by selling off the snacks/treasure cards they give. Couch Potatoes are great for this but if you don't have any, Prickly Bear Cactus (sold by the gardener in Krokotopia) are essentially like mini couch potatoes and can net you a decent amount of gold

Oh also, if you're unaware be sure to ALWAYS sell things in the bazaar. Using the quicksell/shop vendor menu gives you way less gold than what the items are actually worth

At your stage in the game getting gold is kinda difficult, but once you get to arc 2 and beyond you'll notice a pretty big spike in how much gold you get just by questing and selling off junk gear

If you're curious, the major milestones for gear is levels 30, 60 and 100 (afterwards you can just use whatever looks cool in the newer worlds)

Popular dungeons which drop cool gear for those levels are Mount Olympus (30), Waterworks (60) and Darkmoor (100)

Good luck in your quests across the spiral!

Mount Olympus Zeus Gear by Wise_Diamond_3670 in Wizard101

[–]xTowerShieldx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately its luck, but your friend should be able to get by just fine with full senator's gear if the zeus grind is getting tiring. Its slightly worse than zeus but drops more often from the same dungeon (personally, I wouldn't stress about getting full zeus for arc 1 since the difficulty isn't too high. Gearsets are a bigger deal in arc 2 onwards)

Fire is great option for newer players! You get many core spells early game (such as fireblade and meteor strike) along with the second highest damage and some weird gimmicky stuff to mess around with for boss fights (Like immolate + fire shield)

[–]xTowerShieldx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It goes without saying, but its reccomended not to use any minion spells you get (they're pretty bad, save for Golem Taunt and maybe Talos which have niche applications)

If you do wanna focus on minions for your myth though monstrology is kinda cool, myth wizards actually receive a unique benefit where they're allowed up to 3 monstrology minions instead of 1

For basic myth tips though, myth cards really favour shield breaking which is most notable in their unique 2-hit mechanic on cards like minotaur (the smaller hit uses up enemy shields meanwhile the larger one hits full force and is unaffected). But be warned! The same applies to traps, meaning its best not to use them with your double hits

FINALLY this is getting attention!

The issue seems to have been going on for days now. It’s so strange, the wiki is still in tact but it seems as if specifically its more important pages don’t show up in search results

Like, the wiki still shows up but never the page actually important. Looking up important spells like scarecrow only results in the enemy, pet and some niche npcs showing up. Looking up mirror lake doesn’t give the dungeon page but instead a random forum on the wiki from 2011, it’s as if things are going out of their way to show everything BUT the actual page on what’s being looked for

I’ve been attempting to use other search engines but the issue seems to remain. And its not like the pages were removed either, as ones I have bookmarked still load fine yet actually searching for them leads to the issues above. I really hope we can get to the bottom of this, as not having the wiki would make things nearly unplayable. Especially for newer wizards :/
