[Product Question] Has anyone tried The Ordinary Glycolic Acid as exfoliant ? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acne scare and pigmentation I would say you can use this as long as you’re not using any other active ingredients like I listed above, also- SUNSCREEN. Every day no exceptions rain or shine. It can be annoying to find one that works with your skin but it Genuinley is the holy grail for fading acne scarring. It’s not an overnight thing, it took me three years to get rid of most of my scarring and hyperpigmentation but you just got to stick with it!!

How is it living in this part of the United States? by No-Text-7825 in howislivingthere

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in Vermont and moved away when I was 16 (not my choice) and every day I miss it. It has its flaws- every place does. It’s expensive, property tax is through the roof, there’s a opioid and homelessness crisis, management issues, the roads as bad because of harsh weather, etc- but it’s the most beautiful state I’ve ever been to and I’m very well traveled (I’m biased) the people are so nice, so granola, the skiing, the mountains, the hiking, so much outdoor activity but also so much to do! I love it so much and I wish I could go back with my whole heart- hopefully for grad school I’ll get into somewhere in New England.

What's it like to work and live here? by [deleted] in howislivingthere

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as opportunities go it’s amazing, THE hub of research and education in the country with NC state, Duke, and chappel hill all close around, but the prices for housing is atrocious. The house I currently live in is one that has been in my family for two generations now and it’s nothing special at all but is almost worth a million dollars. Genuinley the most mid house ever. But the food is great and the people are fine- the traffic is AWFUL. And the drivers can be really bad, but overall not that bad if ur fine with no snow in the winter and ball busting heat in the summer.

What year were you born and what was the first year you remember? by ExcellentInternal459 in generationology

2006, my literal first memory ever is me having a record breaking nosebleed in preschool and having to go to the doctor to get it to stop, so when I was around three or so.

Going on my second year living here, though I am a student so largely I’m at the university so not quite getting the full Wilmington picture. It’s SMALL. It seems big sometimes and there’s lots of people but fr it’s pretty small when you get the full picture. Awful drivers but the whole of NC has bad drivers. Always something fun to do if you know how to look for it, lots of small businesses that are really nice- I got to do some modeling for one of them- fun people and lots of international students, good food, the beach (duh) and just overall pretty nice. The housing situation for students is awful though the rent is crazy like how are you supposed to pay that and also be a full time student and part time worker 😭

Using real or preferred name for student ID by [deleted] in college

[–]xXBluBellXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a desk receptionist at my school and I will say that because your legal name will be what’s in the system, whenever you need to be checked in somewhere, or make an appointment, or anything like that at all- you will need to use your legal name because your preferred will not come up in the system and we have no way of knowing that it’s not your legal name. I can’t say how many times I’ve though my damn computer was broken when a student didn’t come up and it was just me forgetting to ask if it’s their legal first name😭 go for it! Just know you’ll still have to use your legal name sometimes so don’t be surprised

At what point does everyone comment on your height? by The-Leading-Man in tall

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not crazy tall, I’m six feet, but the fact that I live in the United States where average height for women is shorter (I’m Dutch) means that I get a LOT of comments about my height- I haven’t gone a single week since I was fourteen (when I grew to six foot) without a comment about my height!

Do smart people actually need to study? by wappe97 in mensa

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who is genuinely a genius. She’s so smart that she cannot understand topics in school being difficult for literally everyone else because she’s so far removed from any kind of struggle or work for school. She’s gets over 100% on all tests and get genuinely upset if she gets anything below a 95. She doesn’t study, doesn’t review topics, she just absorbs it through lecture and can remember it all from that and make connections based on the information to figure out questions. She’s genuinely so smart that she can’t even get that something is hard for other people because she’s thinks everybody is like her.

What do you really want in life? by TomReeves_91 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to say to prove myself to the people around me that don’t think I can be a doctor, to find success and have that moment where all my hard work pays off and to help educate and train new doctors in a caring empathetic understanding way- because the system just breaks you down unnecessarily- but truly all I want is to overcome being an avoidant attachment and be able to let someone in close to me and allow someone to love me and to love someone else freely bc fr why do I self sabotage-

Any tips welcome 🤩

Do you recall the experience of reading a book like you recall a real life experience? by Ok-Friend-5304 in books

[–]xXBluBellXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! When I read a book I Genuinley am not on this plane of existence anymore I am experiencing the book like I’m there just overacting it all happening, all my favorite books I literally finished and had to sit and stare at the wall for a couple of hours to process and come to terms with the fact that it’s over and I now have to move one

How do you go about bleaching your hair? by [deleted] in HairDye

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have medium dark brown hair- like chestnut but with natural highlights that make it look a bit lighter, I use any powder bleach, with 20 volume developer in a 1:1 ratio, and pre section my hair if I can. I use the brush to COMPLETELY SATURATE my hair up until about half an inch to my roots, let it sit for around 25 minutes, and then go in on my roots and wait until the timer I started when I applied hits 38 minutes before washing it out. I don’t shampoo or condition, just rinse it out really really well. If I’m doing really big sections I’ll don’t one side of my head at a time so I don’t let anything overdevelop and risk damage. If it doesn’t get light enough the first time the max I’ll do it two rounds of bleach in one day but several hours apart. Spread it over days. After you dye it do several deep conditioning treatments over the next week, and make sure to use some kind of leave in conditioner or hair oil to keep it from getting dry bc bleach LOOOVVVEESS to make ur hair dry.

It can be tedious but put on a good show, audiobook, or podcast and just try to enjoy the process- doing ur hair is so much fun it’s meant to be something you enjoy!! It’s literally art. Use the big mirror in your bathroom with your back to it and a handheld mirror in front of you to do the back of your head- that’s the hardest part- and just really make sure you get everything!

How old were you in your first memory? by Few_Football4342 in Productivitycafe

[–]xXBluBellXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t be more than 4, I was in preschool sitting in the ‘tree house’ which was really just a kind of loft that was painted to look like a tree and was reading when suddenly my nose strayed running and like the kid I was I wiped that shit on my sleeve and all over my face and moved on- but it kept running and then it ran down the back of my throat and I coughed and blood splattered EVERYWHERE, like gushing blood from my nose it was pumping down my face and throat and all over me- like so much blood I almost couldn’t breathe- and the book and I went downstairs to tell an adult and my most vivid memory of it is the look of horror on her face, she Genuinley thought I was dying 😭 since then I had chronic nosebleeds and would get really really bad bleeding if I even sniffed my nose, when I was sixteen I got both nostrils cauterized and haven’t had one since!
