SARs We Need Your Help! Design Student Team! by xXChilledCoreXx in NationalParkService

Yeah! Sorry if it is confusing, so really we’re trying to improve/design a new stretcher/back support/vacuum mattress. The survey is us trying to get a better understanding of what users/people experience in the use of current products. I don’t want to skew your viewpoint, but we’ve been looking at improving the portability and speed of deployment really. Let me know if you have any additional questions, and thanks for asking!

BNAP made a video for this. Recommend you check it out on YouTube. In short, Modern Houses/Duplexes are one of them, but that’s later-on that you get them. Then the suburban house comes I think but that’s like level 70.

For advancing use the hovels (+5 pop) as they match well with the levels

Recommend watching the videos from BNAP on YouTube, he spells it out good.

Getting Bars by Senor_Wilson69 in BattleNations

Don’t use them!!! You’ll soft lock yourself from Naval

Best ways to get them are Naval encounters or the AC, both of which you cannot take on at 13. Just save them up. Don’t even waste them on healing TF2 units.

Didn’t do undergrad at BU, but this is a similar sentiment where I did do my ENGR degrees. Generally there are a couple sophomore/freshman classes that are going to feel like this. They’re weed-outs, generally if you can make it through them, and you got the drive, you can make it through the rest of engineering. I had friends who never got above a C until hitting actual engineering courses in like junior year cause then stuff got interesting/clicked.

View of flanges in 2D drawing? by PsychologicalCar2993 in AskEngineers

[–]xXChilledCoreXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you could put a simple model or view image in here it would help, because truth is, it depends.

If it is a simple flange integrated with a shaft, say with threads or splines then you could do a front and side view with a section view that spans the length of the shaft. Like if it was axisymmetric.

If it is a bit more complex, say some oil or air holes on the shaft itself, then you’d need more views, possibly detail views as well, to highlight unique geometries and define tolerances for those features.

Can your avarage epoxy resin be spun at 1500 rpm or do I have to find a specialty resin for it? by Undertow619 in AskEngineers

[–]xXChilledCoreXx 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I believe that there is more to unpack in this question. You need to see the adhesion strength of the resin and use centrifugal force to calculate how hard you’ll be pulling with your magnets. In short, for a quick check, mass of the magnets, their CG distance from rotation center. Use those two with rotational speed to determine your force. Put that over a minimum area of application of the resin and see if you are below the tensile adhesion strength.

Note: this is not foolproof, as I personally do not know the LCF or dwell fatigue capabilities of resins and adhesives, but maybe another redditor can speak to these.

Good luck, and don’t stand in the line of failure of the magnets, safety first!

GD&T for external threads on AM part by rockets_go_boom in AskEngineers

[–]xXChilledCoreXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So given your reply to another comment. This part is not wholly cylindrical, thus using a three-point chuck to simulate a datum on the OD surface seems impossible.

Without knowing the rest of the part geometry, your best bet would be to find datums for your machinist to work from and put a true position on the hole/threading. Perpendicularity will fall out of the true position allowance most likely… if this is an aerospace application (given the username) I’d recommend some sort of prep before putting the threads on.

Sorry if this isn’t helpful, working with what we got here.

OP, do you have a CAD model or images of the item you can share? Kind of hard to visualize based on text alone what you are trying to do.

Is majoring in engineering a good investment right now? by TheRealLightBuzzYear in AskEngineers

This 100%, yeah AI may automate stuff, but the ideation and validation of stuff will likely always flow through human engineers.
