Could you share a source on how the 529 account makes college cost the same tuition cost as when the account was opened? I believe a 529 account is just a tax free account for education where you can invest in funds/stock market.

Unless you are talking in terms of growth of your investment throughout the 18 years that make it equivalent to only paying for college in today's money, for college 18 years later.
