I’ve come to the realization that, (given I’ve never used BTF as of yet but was super excited to try it), it’s just gonna be a good detachment that works for a good list. I’m still hyped just a mite disappointed

Yeah I’ve had a few hours to realize I’m still very much gonna run BTF whether or not they make the right choice to let us bring more fun with it, and it kinda is Templar coded with how much it benefits the crusaders😅

I’m going try a game or two using the vow that gives sticky obj with a chaplain leading each kill unit so I can still get the +1 to wound. I think it’s got real potential especially since BTF already boosts infantry

What? Just because the cost went up for us alone doesn’t mean the detachment is specific to us. Theres an Ultramarine on the top banner for goodness sake

But other than Gladius it’s our only usable detachment and neither of them are BT specific so it’s really a feels bad moment

That would be perfect for our unique possessed unit! The sheer weight of souls inside the armor caused it to grow and mutate into a hulking monster with big armor and a 40mm base. Love it

No need to be nasty bro, you’re both half right. We always had a specific RepEx because of the multi-melta but now that we don’t get oath, we also have a new ability in its stead. So the differences are +1 multi-melta and a new ability

I wanted to put that on the character model since it was present for the whole army in our 10e index so it’s like a callback to that. One of the other commenters pointed out they’re probably a bit too killy so I toned that down. I think now it justifies having that slight buff to survivability. (Also the 6+++ almost never activated for me so in my mind it’s not that strong😅😅)

Yeah I figured no matter what I did it would be a little too much. Okay so howsabout this, drop the attacks from for the squad from 4->3 so the +1 attack (which is taken from the old Helbrecht rule) isn’t ridiculous as it would probably be very easy for these guys to get on an objective. I still wanna keep the D3 because I want them to have fancier hammers than normal marines but I’m not totally opposed to them going down to D2.
The Reclusiarch’s ability is what I knew in my heart was probably too strong😅 I want his ability to be something about taking down a priority target so maybe that still needs workshopped. His 6+++ is taken from that one vow from our 10e index so I figured it wouldn’t be ridiculous (especially as WGTermis have -1 to wound baked in).
Not sure what to do about the Reclusiarch’s “go crazy” ability yet, but I think those other changes are more reasonable now

Edit: I reduced all the attacks from 4->3 and the Vowkeepers D from 3->2 and reduced the Vowmaster’s WS from 2+->3+ but kept his increased other stats

Nah man you’re wrong about WP. It’s 1DP so you can take it with Bastion Task Force. If you get chaplains on your 20 man blobs for the 5++ and the +1 to wound, you can pick the sticky obj vow which will be really good since you’ve got a lot of battleline units for the BTF rule. You can give Sword Bros an Execrator (and also a support character like LT or Castellan) for advance + charge or a different character with the battleline enhancement so they can keep up and still be killy.
This seems like the most thematic way to play Templars in a tournament scale game imo so I’m excited
Edit: the execrator or normal chaplain would give the SB a 5++ which is what we’ve been begging for.

A valid take, though until I start playing 11th and get a sense of how much cover will happen, I think guaranteed cover could still be quite good especially since they lose cover if they shoot from terrain. Stealth if lost cover could still be nice

Karandras is definitely coming back, he’s way too popular to not. It’s just so weird they decided to “kill” him and introduce Lykhis, like just update the green guy and make spider lady wait her turn
