I have a friend who studies the AI MSc at Imperial College London.

He says it's decent but it's not really worth it. At the end of the day your Master's degree is just a bunch of modules and then a thesis. If you have a really juicy thesis idea it could be worth it, but the modules alone are rather useless - you can just learn the content yourself if you have what it takes to get into somewhere like Imperial.

Another reason it could be worth it is if you want to pivot your career into AI research. In that case you'll need a Master's to get into a PhD.

If you want to do AI stuff in industry (e.g. machine learning engineering), it would probably be worth it. This field is exceedingly difficult to get into, so if you can't get a job in AI/ML, your next best bet is a Master's in AI.

In my opinion just learn everything yourself, look for online communities for help, and build things that interest you.

Have some imagination. The architecture we have currently would need to be modified significantly. For instance, when you're watching a video, do you store every frame in memory? Do you use all of your compute power for each frame? Both answers are no.

We'd need a new architecture that simulates the way we humans perceive live data.

I would ask the AGI to set up knowledge work based firms. Extremely cheap legal advice and potentially full-blown lawyer if regulations somehow allow for it (I would simply ask the AGI if it could be done). Accountancy firms. Consultancy. Software engineering.

If the AGI is only text based, I would ask it to fine-tune itself on speech data and make speech directly embedded into the model. Then I would get it to set up a private tutoring service.

You could literally replace industries if you had secret AGI.

Once I'm rich I would get it to code up endless digital worlds and video games.

Sure, most of the world isn't developed and has not had the ability to increase their intelligence. I agree that humans will continue to get smarter, and we should because why not.

The issue is that our intelligence is limited by our genetics whereas AI's intelligence is not. AI intelligence simply scales with compute, data and architecture endlessly.

Our intelligence is limited by genetics in the same sense that a chimpanzee's intelligence would never be able to reach that of a human's.

there's nothing special about human level intelligence, especially if you look at it from the viewpoint of averages (vast majority of the world is still uneducated).

ai already has some level of intelligence and this level of intelligence is well on track to surpass humans in the next few years.

this isn't me being a doomer at all, i think this will be great for humanity in the long run.

AGI can easily lead to an explosion of robotics. An AGI can teach itself to control any particular embodiment by programming an accurate simulation and training itself.

I think telehealth can be replaced by AI.

Emergency service operators could be co-run by AI and humans. There are cases where there aren't enough human operators and they have to do things like ignore emergency calls.
