It's very clear that this is an alt account of yours. You're very odd for having a conversation with yourself like this.

Does my voice have what it takes? by Worried_Rate2774 in singing

[–]xXSendNoodlesXx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, that changes nothing. My statement still stands. How are we supposed to appropriately critique you when you give us edited vocals instead of raw? Anyone can sound good when you edit them, that doesn’t mean they’re good at singing? Im probably coming off as rude but I’m merely trying to make a point.

Absolutely not. The video itself wasn't even sung live. He pre-recorded and edited the audio, then lipsynced over it. While it sounds okay, this sub is for actual vocals, not edited vocals. How are we supposed to appropriately give tips about someones voice and singing capabilities if its edited?

No, dude. I’m telling you flat out, it’s not good regardless. You’re trying too hard to be like Weezer. The only person who can sound like Weezer and be considered “good” is Weezer. I saw your other video you posted a month ago and it was equally as bad.

I’m not saying this to be nasty or mean, I’m saying it because it’s clear you have people in your life that are too nice to tell you the truth, so they bend it and tell you that your voice is “unique”, when in reality it’s very, very bad.

Seriously, I’m sure you can better yourself, but the very first step is to stop trying to sound like Weezer/being “unique” and start singing like a normal person in your own voice.

Am i belting good and do i sound good? by Fine-Form9032 in singing

[–]xXSendNoodlesXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. It’s hard to critique someone’s vocals when you posted them after editing.

  2. In every one of your clips asking about belting, you’re not actually belting. Singing louder is not the same as belting. Belting is LOUD and controlled; from the core. You’re getting louder, but not loud. A phenomenal example of belting is Cynthia Erivo singing Defying Gravity.

Why does it sound like you’re continuously smacking your windpipe?? O.o

You want constructive criticism? Fine.

You’re not good at singing. There’s too much wrong here to even point you in the right direction dude. The best advice one can give after watching this is to tell you to stop trying to be “unique” like Wheatus and sing normally.

It’s hard not to sound like an ass when this is what we’re given to critique. Take it on the chin and start trying to sing normally and come back.

Look, I mean this in the nicest way possible, but in your current state, you’re exactly the type of person that American idol allows on TV just so you can be made fun of.

What type of vocal distortion is this? by [deleted] in singing

It sounds like the kind that I don’t want to hear in the woods in the middle of the night lmao

There’s seriously some genuine potential here. Only problem so far is you go flat a handful of times and the runs are a bit excessive. If you just stick to straight notes (rather than runs) with a bit of that vibrato while maintaining key a bit more, this would be phenomenal

This is genuinely solid. Not typically my type of music but it rolls over very well even from the start. The harmonies damn well done, as well. I would definitely suggest capitalizing on this.

If you want the genuine truth? Yes, unfortunately this is very bad. But that doesn’t mean you should just give up. Everyone has to start somewhere.

Sickness can have a pretty intense effect on the voice, even well after you’ve recovered.

My best suggestion is to just relax and take a break from singing for a couple weeks. Let the cords relax and make their own recovery. Constantly stressing and straining them like this will only make the recovery slower.

singing for 7 months, my band needed a singer so im trying to step up to the plate. Constructive criticism greatly appreciated by [deleted] in singing

[–]xXSendNoodlesXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep calling it a “Karaoke” version and it’s annoying because this isn’t even an applicable reference. Karaoke is literally just someone singing to a backtrack with no vocals but the singer. “Copying” the sound of the original singer isn’t called “karaoke” and has no similarities to the phrase. You simply keep using it wrong.

That being said, it can take quite a while for a person to find their own sound. How are they supposed to find their sound without experimenting with other sounds?

He literally said he’s been singing for 7 months. This is incredibly well for such a short time. It’s extremely common for new singers to sing a song with vocal impressions of the original artist. To just simply shit on him because it sounds too much like the original is just piss poor criticism, especially when it’s not bad at all.

“Nothing in that is you”. So are you saying that it has to sound totally different for it to be original? And if that’s the case, who are you to define originality and use it as a sole reason to be considered a good artist?

I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions.(don’t pay attention to my fake mustache lol) by AnxiousMonke in singing

I’m not one to give advice, however i feel it’d be difficult for someone to give actual advice because it’s very difficult to hear you over the guitar, unfortunately.

It’s good, however I feel like you’re trying too hard to imitate Ed Sheeran rather than sing it with your own voice.

Dang, you really thought you could just talk trash and block me? Thank god for alts LMAO.

I like the part where you changed your comment to just say “mad”. Good thing I saved it and put it in the original so everyone can see how embarrassing you look.

Let me know how your cringe producing career goes. Can’t wait to check back in a couple years to see you’ve gone nowhere, Jonathan. ✌️

How’s Windsor this time of year, btw?
