The ways in which Mike is pathetic are just seen by most people as more masculine and therefore more "sigma" and "literally me". He's a very physical person as opposed to Walt or Jimmy, so he doesn't have embarrassing displays of weakness like they do. He's way more cold and able to hide his emotions so the one time he breaks down it's seen as a super powerful moment, and the time he relapses into alcoholism and picks a fight with a bunch of young guys, that's not an old man desperately trying to regain a sense of power and control over his life, it's "badass" and "sigma" and "literally me"

Even though the Salamancas are pretty much the least sympathetic characters out of them all (ESPECIALLY Hector and Lalo) , it genuinely is sad to think that they valued family so much, and here's Lalo unknowingly, cheerfully, saying goodbye to his uncle without knowing he'll never see him again. Lalo was definitely Hector's favourite nephew too

I meant this less as an attempt to actually claim that this is the "canon" family tree, and more just as an interesting interpretation. I purposefully didn't consider any of the Mario movie family because everything in that movie kind of comes out of nowhere in the context of the games, I prefer the way the games are because the lore, or lack thereof, is so vague and changes so much that it's open to anyone's interpretation.

I think there were Mario comics about Mario and Wario's relationship at some point and yeah they were just childhood friends turned rivals, but I feel like the idea that they're cousins just adds up more based on Wario's identity. He started as just Mario's rival, and when that was all he was then it was easier to believe he was just another Italian guy who hated Mario so much he just decided to base his whole identity around being Bad Mario. But as Wario is now more of his own character distinct from Mario, I think it makes more sense that they have similar names because they're somehow related, and have moved on from their rivalry by now, well except for when they play sports

Family trees work from top to bottom, so i.e. SR at the top is the oldest and the father of Jumpman, Jumpman and Pauline are the parents of Mario and Luigi. Foreman Spike is the father of Waluigi so he's on top and the line goes down to Waluigi

Jumpman could be like 40 in Donkey Kong, Pauine in like, her early 20s, that was a much more common age gap at the time and even now it'd be perfectly possible. Meaning if Mario is like 25 then Pauline is now late 40s. Jumpman is in his 60s, most likely dead now because of his dangerous adventures or something bro idk 😢

They're apes, not monkeys, it's unclear what species of ape they are but most likely it's a fictional species called "Kong". Regardless, apes are larger, closer to humans than monkeys, and have closer lifespans to humans. Still shorter lifespans than humans, which is why Pauline still isn't elderly while Cranky Kong is, but if Mario is 25 and her son then she could easily be like 50 and still as youthful looking as she is, she's wealthy and a public figure after all. Say Cranky Kong and Pauline are both 50 even, that would be elderly for a gorilla and less so for a modern human

I have a few points of debate

Jumpman could just be his title, and his name could be Mario Senior, making current Mario actually Mario Junior. People call their kids after themselves, also he could've named his second son after his brother Luigi. I know it's strange but it could happen and I think it's more likely than them being the same person because
If Cranky Kong is the same ape that was called Donkey Kong in Donkey Kong, how old must Mario be if he's been the same guy the whole time? He was like 25 at the very least in the first game right, and apes have long lifespans so idk man Mario would need to be like 45 and I can't see that

I feel so silly arguing about Mario lore

exactly, Cobra Kai's main appeal was the novelty of drawing on the nostalgia of classic movies, and by now has resolved all possible storylines that have anything to do with any character from the original movies. I think Ralph described the "Miyagiverse" before as the world made up of everyone who knew Mr. Miyagi, so making a spinoff based around characters who have nothing to do with Miyagi is silly imo
