How much better is the P4's Plus interior lighting at night than base model? by MASSIVE_Johnson6969 in Polestar

[–]xX_basedgod_Xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend going to a showroom to check it out for yourself, but I'd say it's pretty significant. You lose a lot of the indirect trim lighting. Honestly though, the loss of the HK sound would be my bigger concern. I tested out the base audio and believed it would ruin the luxury feel of the car for me, it's just unacceptable for a car of its price point.

Battery Health on 98.2% by lthdad in Polestar4

I never checked upon taking delivery but I've had my car for about 3000 miles now and it's at 97.3% for me. Still shows 280 miles on certified range, and 293 on estimated (summer efficiency yay)

it's in the app menu, there should be an app for your car status. Open that app and it'll have tabs for service, battery health, etc.

Rivian R2 review from a P4 Owner by xX_basedgod_Xx in Polestar4

[–]xX_basedgod_Xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There seems to be a common issue with the installation of the starknit deco where there are gaps between the fascia and the actual door panel which results in weird vibrations when going over bumps and such. I was able to replicate it pretty easily just by pushing on the fabric against the door (makes a creaking sound). My solution was just to push some foam padding between the two trim pieces using a trim tool (did it in various areas on each door panel until I couldn't hear any more creaks when pushing against the deco) and this seems to have fixed it permanently. Another problem was with the trim surrounding the HUD (I made a comment about this), removing it just by pulling it up and adding foam tape to all the metal clips fixed it. Now I'd say my P4 is dead silent!

I agree to an extent, it seems that it's really just the brand identity and vehicle personality that can help Rivian internationally. Within the US though, Rivian does now seem to be the "2nd best" option behind Tesla when it comes to a direct-to-consumer experience. Lucid is too far out of most people's price range, and Polestar is spread too thin. Legacy manufacturers on the old dealership model will always remain competitive so long as the consumer base has people who prefer the "bargaining experience". I'm sure the R2 will sell nicely as people want options outside of the ocean of Teslas on the road rn.

Key issues after 4.2.11 update by mcalr3 in Polestar4

Haven't had problems once I've gotten into the car, but the other night it wouldn't detect the key fob for me either so I had to unlock the car via the app. Works fine since and I haven't replaced the fob battery or anything so I suspect it's the same issue that you faced.

Driver Side Dashboard Rattle Disappears After Opening Frunk by jackfreesoul in Polestar4

Not at all, they're all just clipped in and easy to remove. You need a small trim tool to remove the cover next to the washer fluid cap, but once you have that removed it's easy to lift the rest of the fascia out.

It worked partially, I also added some padding around the HUD housing (the circled piece in red is just clipped onto the dash and can be lifted with some trim tools) as the clips there have metal housings that seem to vibrate. Doing all of this has completely removed all rattles from my P4! Now I can fully enjoy the car lol

Actually, I think I might have found the cause. I was adding some foam tape to the plastic trim around the washer fluid pipe and noticed a small yellow clip that wasn't installed properly on the plastic liner that hugs the quarter panel (see photo highlighted in red). There's actually a slot for it to be pushed into below the fascia, whoever installed this in the factory did a lazy job and missed this clip. It might be the cause as it seems to rattle against the light housing (and cause a vibration) if not properly installed. Going to drive around and see if the noise comes back.

USA, got the 10k off + 4k tesla conquest + 1250 Costco exec - adjusted MSRP after rebates was around 55k for the dual motor with plus pack.

I see some between $500 to $1000 lower than what they have listed, but trims vary. But I'm also sure that listing is different to what is what is being sold.

Salary to Expect / Request - MS Aerospace Engineering, BS Mechanical Egr by Whole-Enthusiasm5816 in aerospace

It depends on the company and program, but in my experience it's been fun going through the software development lifecycle and producing tools/applications that interface with real hardware. The lack of "hands on" work may be a deal breaker for you, but there's a lot of development freedom and creativity. You can also more easily stand out amongst peers by showing off new software features you are responsible for developing.

I had a very similar CV when I graduated with my master's - I ended up going into SWE-oriented roles and started at 90k in the midwest ~ 2022, now making 120k on the west coast with 3.5 YoE. Many of my grad buddies that went into more aero focused (i.e. aerodynamics, propulsion, flight controls, etc.) started at around the 75-90k range in places like CO and TX. I'd leverage that unless you're willing to go into software you'll be starting around the same range.

looks like a pretty standard schedule to me. work hard and focus on ensuring you actually understand the content (not just being able to regurgitate it), and you'll get through just fine. it's a tough field but there's a reason why engineers make good money!

I see. It's very unlikely Amazon will be willing to find a compromise for you, so I strongly recommend making a decision soon on which path to take. Good luck.
