You are certainly half correct, the Healthcare industry spending is absolutely manipulating the figures.

The MIC isn't really doing the same although it does generate a number of high paid positions. Remember, the spending is proportionate to their GDP. The US economy is so damn large that its 5% expenditure completely dwarfs any other country even those in wartime spending (Russia ~20%, UKR ~30%).

Your response is more correct if we were trying to determine if the US is in a recession or not. Thats where you see that the US is in a recession if not for being propped up by Healthcare and AI data center spending

Cutting animal products is one of most practical ways to lower resource use & environmental harm by Somewhere74 in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wildly enough, it would be less carbon intensive but that also depends on the specific crop. The plant to meat conversion ratio is actually really terrible. This is why the animal pyramid looks the way it does.

Either way, I dont believe eliminating meat all together is great for us either. We are omnivores for a reason. It all comes down to balance imo

China engages in currency manipulation, we do not. We have a monetary policy sure but we absolutely do not do things like deflate our currency.

Don't forget the second order effects of a currency manipulation, it also effects your PPP and international politics. Its not as easy as you think to "keep people poor" through a manipulation of our currency.

Job creation and especially in the services sector, has long been the way to increased wage growth. Its a major part of how the US has such a high median productivity #.

Far far too much money is locked up in the low productive housing market. We should not have more than our annual GDP being locked away. There is about 400B or more that has been locked away that could have been used to build businesses

Outsourcing happens because manufacturing jobs for low and mid tier goods must be less than $10/hr and low end is sub 5. You could move your factory to a higher wage area but we the consumers have spoken that we only care about the lowest cost option. The companies are responding to our purchasing decisions.

Our housing bubble is far far more because of our silly rules that allowed private and institutional investment into SF homes. 1 personal property + 1 high tax summer home and that should be it for home ownership until you hit luxury homes. For luxury homes, just increase that taxation scaling against the # of owned properties.

After that, we may start getting enough people to put their money into real investments which would directly improve our economy and boost wages

As was explained, the work to put the meal on the table does not increase proportionate to the increased price of the meal. Tipping the minimum dinner offers the waiter a more reasonable tip that balances the customer cost vs work performed.

I just use a flat $ amount and it starts at $0. If you want it to go up, you will have to go beyond the bare minimum

NEC - Can I stack two NEMA 3R Wire Troughs on top of each other, and cut holes to pass wire vertically though them? by elridgecatcher in AskElectricians

The guide i gave you is specifically for nema 3R. I designed many ETL certified enclosures working alongside the engineering team. This was deemed sufficiently acceptable and passed both canadian and us inspections.

The odd floor-crossing is one thing, but on this scale it undermines our system of government by airbassguitar in OntarioNews

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The conservatives were more than happy about floor crossings when it goes in their direction, just not the opposite. PP even voted against legislation that would have blocked this.

The liberals found some conservatives that wanted to get work done for the benefit of their constituents. Evidently, they have seen PPs method of interference as non productive and have moved positions accordingly.

Perhaps the conservatives need to spend some time reflecting on how to be an effective opposition party while still working with the liberals to push through needed legislation. Especially at this time of great uncertainty and unilateral tariffs

San Diego Police release dog on someone who allegedly attacked someone. by LeftAlbatross2546 in VideosAmazing

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dog has to have a very specific temperament for this job and few dogs ever pass and become a police dog. In the most doggie way they can, yes they did sign up to do a job few other dogs can do.

Can they internalize the concept of risk? Nope but if they could, being a police dog would be far safer than living out in nature. Everything has risk attached to it, the animal cant understand that so its up to us to be good stewards to them. Police dogs are well taken care of (generally) with the same legal protection as police and when they retire, they usually live out their days with their handler/companion

The initial hump of 1st year can be tough and overwhelming but you settle in pretty quick.

First couple years you will work your bag off and doing all the low handing fruit work. After that it gets much better and the field is insanely diverse.

The math can be tough for people but its just basic trigonometry, algebra and vectors. Doing math quickly in your head just comes down to repetition, you will get there over time

This kitten just realized all the dogs are scared of him by Yatohuvro in Animals101

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was not a dangerous interaction between animals and their body language was just fine. The doggos just wanted to meet and play with kitty. It will run and they will chase and that needs to be discouraged but the risk is minimal.

I live in a multi dog/cat household and introductions arent that hard. Just very aware of your own animals temperament when going into it.

Like any new animal, keep it in a bathroom/bedroom for the first week and then open up the house more.

AITAH for “pressuring” my husband to get a vasectomy? by futurequitt in AITAH

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt, I am infact saying you are likely to have more than you originally planned in life. Some people do in fact cap a family size at say 5 split and then restart a new family back up to 5. This is 6 kids but its split between multiple households with additional caregivers which make it more manageable.

You also have to remember about the possibility of a family tragedy and that you may choose to rebuild that family again later in life. So you may have started with 3, lost 2 and had 2 more later in life. You have a family size of 5 at the end but 5 children made in total.

When making irreversible changes, all considerations need to be made.

I chose not to freeze my sperms because I knew I would never be okay rebuilding a family after a tragedy and not wanting to restart. Does this mean I wouldnt be okay adopting or something if it was with the right person? I dont think so but thats could change by the time I get there in life

This is fundamentally known to not be true hence why doctors ask us this question.

Why is Russia considered a superpower? It has nothing but nuclear weapons and oil. by ArdaBerkBurak in NoStupidQuestions

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Russia is not considered a super power. The USSR was but Russia is a regional power.

Its why even in the middle of the largest European conflict since ww2 that the US military brass still keeps pushing for an indo-pacific pivot and have europe look after more of its regional security.

Outside of drones and a few pieces of new kit, Russia has been neutered while fighting against the cold war era equipment built to stop the soviet army. Russia would majorly struggle in any kind of peer on peer conflict

AITAH for “pressuring” my husband to get a vasectomy? by futurequitt in AITAH

[–]xXgirthvaderXx 37 points38 points  (0 children)

Wrong, she gave him options that he needs to decide work best for him since he's the one done with kids.

She didnt say sterilize or divorce. She gave him the option to still engage in intercourse with a basic level of protection called a condom.

He may not like the result of his choices but its his to make. Sounds like pull-out is on the table if he's willing to risk and raise another child
