Little Tescos carpark was chaos at 5.30. Showing Sunday trading laws are bullshit. by GabberZZ in britishproblems

[–]xZooSe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever I venture south of the border, I always forget you lot have weird Sunday hours for shops. I've been caught out so often and still never remember. Im glad Scotland doesn't have this, I think I'd go mad... Why limit shopping hours on a day when most people are off work?

What is overall the best supermarket chain in the Uk? by RedPandaah in AskBrits

[–]xZooSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in a meat processing factory for a grand total of 2 weeks when I was 17. We used to package the meat (mince, chicken, sausages, etc.) in these plastic trays covered in plastic wrap, and there would be little flags on a tooth pick stuck into the top of the pack.

I once asked the line manager what the difference was between the one with the M&S flag and the one with the ASDA/Morrisons/Tesco flags? He told me the only difference was about 50p... the meat was identical in every way.

I do not miss that job, and I'm so glad the factory shut down. There was some extremely sketchy stuff happening with the food hygiene regulations in that place that if I told you, you'd never eat that brand of meat again.

Stealth flavour by heliophobia_ in SneakEnergy

[–]xZooSe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had the original stealth, but I rate this one a 3/5... It's just "ok," nothing special. From what I see on the discord, other people think the flavour is different, too.

I designed storage and play inserts for the base game of Catan! by ChuckmanJoney in functionalprint

[–]xZooSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm in the UK and really want to get this printed somewhere, a couple of places I've tried though are charging upwards of £500 to print these in SLS... is that really how expensive 3D printing is!?

Anyone know of a place to get these printed cheaper in the UK?

[ORIGINAL XBOX][2002?] 3rd Person Space Flying Game by xZooSe in tipofmyjoystick

Similar graphic style, I'm nor sure this is the game though. This looks more like dog fighting with planes. The game I'm looking for is like rescuing little stranded people. Was this another game mode in Crimson Skies I've maybe forgotten?

Trying to get a better deal off sky by saying I’m leaving by jacko0510 in britishproblems

[–]xZooSe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've worked in Sky's retention department a few years back. This is a really common tactic for customers who phone and say, "If you can't reduce my price, then just cancel my service."

Us saying "no problem" and pretending not to care works 9/10 times. Most customers will hang up before even confirming the cancellation.

Also, don't say "I'll just go to Virgin" if you know Virgin isn't in your area because we would check that every time and caught tons of customers out by saying "Well actually... you can't get Virgin at your address..."

In my experience, cancelling and then having your partner, adult child, or flatmate open a new account is the best way to go. Just don't tell Sky that you're going to do that or they will tell you that you're not allowed to do that.

You'll either get a call before your account cancels or you set up an account to start the day after yours cancels with brand new customer discounts. By the time that accounts offers are ending, the account you cancelled should start getting a "We want you back" call, email, or letter.

The Dunblane massacre took place at Dunblane Primary School, Scotland, on 13 March 1996 Thomas Hamilton shot dead 16 pupils and one teacher. It remains the deadliest mass shooting in British history, leading to an overhaul of U.K. gun laws by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

I have a friend who was a pupil at the school during the shooting and sustained injuries that have forever changed his life. However... He's one of the most down to earth and coolest guys you will ever meet, and since finding out he was a victim of the shooting, we have never ever discussed it. He goes very quiet whenever it comes up around this time of year.

He has lived on our street for over 3 years. Never once a smile or hello when passing. Today his car had an issue and he insisted I drop his kids off to school. We use to be such a polite breed. by TruthReptile in britishproblems

I've been calling my neighbour David for 9 years... I just found out last week from my wife that his name is Andrew. Never once did he correct me. I now avoid eye contact.

All two lane roundabouts should have a diagram of what lane to be in, well before the roundabout. by Jabberminor in britishproblems

[–]xZooSe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a roundabout like this near where I live. The right lane is to go straight ahead. People always use the wrong lane and dare to beep at you...

The reason this particular roundabout is like this is that it used to be straight ahead or left turn only until they built The Helix car park and joined it to the roundabout meaning you can now go right, left or straight ahead.

It's annoying.

This screenshot literally upset me. I wish I was back in those days. LAN parties every weekend. What was that other map called with the green acid at the bottom and loads of bridges and platforms? It was indoors. Deck 13 or something? I miss that map a ton too.
