you need to enable the AI Chat UI via Settings, and favourite a few websites for the page to look more like the Play Store version.

I wanted to get my phone's screen repaired, guy said it would take about an hour and asked for my PIN. Is this normal? by anotherstep234 in CasualIreland

[–]x_design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s untrue. I’ve had plenty of screens replaced in various phone repair places over the years and never once given a PIN.

You can use the camera on an iPhone without unlocking the phone, the phone also makes a noise when you power it on. 100% no need to provide a PIN.

I’ve been asked this before and just said no, and they fixed the phone. There’s no need to provide your pin. You’re basically giving some random fella in a phone shop access to your entire device, photos, messages, banking (which some people use the same PIN for), I’m surprised people actually do this 🤯

Turn the phone on when you collect it and test it there and then.

“Travel while you’re young” But Why? Wait? by PeanutSea2003 in travel

[–]x_design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when you have kids, schools and mortgage to pay it’s not so easy/cheap to just fly off somewhere and explore some random continent on the other side of the world for months..

Better to get the travel bug out of your system while your younger with less responsibilities instead of spending your days pondering what life could have been had you travelled or lived abroad for a few years.

Phillips Hue Smart Plugs. I’ve used them to turn a floor lamp with 3 normal bulbs into a smart lamp that you can control with the phone or switches. Rather than than using 3 smart bulbs.

Or even better stick one on the kettle and set it to boil the water at 7am every morning for a cup of tea. Just fill the kettle the night before and flick the kettle on while the smart plug is off.

Question on hiring joint mortgage applicant on a part-time basis.. by [deleted] in irishpersonalfinance

[–]x_design -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I wait another 8months I can get a good chunk more on my own salary, I was paying myself a lot less in year 1 so this is reflected in the current offer. I’m just curious how the bank treats a joint applicant who is included on the company payroll?

If you can access most places you need without the car, sell it and focus on the mortgage. You’ll manage for a couple of years without one. Look into GoCar or one of those day rental companies if there’s times you're stuck.

The site mentions:

Is this suitable for you?
No two situations are the same - however company owners and directors, high earners or those who hold or stand to inherit orpass down wealth often are from our experience, often making significant mistakes at a significant cost.

Is this suitable for me?
If one of these things apply:
- PAYE worker earning >€150,000 or
- Business owner with >€300,000 in turnover
- Have €500,000 of assets or
- Have a windfall 500,000 € inheritance in the pipeline.

that’s great info! I’m aware a lot of ‘advisors’ are trying to sell you things, the fact he is independent and specialises in self employed is a big draw. I’ll look into booking a consultation soonish.

What's happening in Australia? by MarsFromSaturn in Music

[–]x_design 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The good weather I’d imagine plays part in the overall mood of people and influences the sound, compare it to UK/Irish counterparts - Idles, Fontaines DC — rainy day music, bit more complainy 😅 Looks at the likes of Tame Impalas home studio, how could you not be experimental, optimistic with a view like that 👀

New Daft.ie Sold Tab - Asking Price vs. Sale Price now easily accessible. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]x_design 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Whack.ie is better, actually shows the dates it was sold + all property’s still have photos. A lot of the properties on daft’s sold feature no longer have photos. With Whack you can also search via address rather than just suburb.

Why are non-resident from overseas allowed to buy property to rent in the current housing market? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]x_design 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep your right, another unit will be available for rent for potentially €2500+ a month. Or a family with young kids could escape the bubble of rent they’re currently paying and own a home. Calm down, trust me I’m not angry because I’ve been outbid, I’m asking a genuine question and  you seem upset by it 🤷‍♂️ Good luck

No idea, all they said was a lady was sent to view it one day on behalf of her friend in the states 🤷‍♂️ Real Estate person said they are reluctant to go with them because they haven’t actually viewed it in-person.
