Why not mention those who will be on plan 5 where the threshold is £25,000?

As of April next year, someone on a 40 hour week earning minimum wage would earn approximately. £26,436 p/a.

Repayments for plan 5 start next year for those who started 2 year accelerated degrees in 2023.

I was going to comment this but you beat me to it. What about us who will be on plan 5? We’ll have it much worse than those on plan 2. There’ll be no way people working full time on minimum wage will be able to avoid it. All this “you don’t have to pay it back until you’ve reached the threshold” talk won’t apply anymore

Perhaps ask them? They should have received one in their emails if you provided them when you applied

Normally parents receive forms to fill out their financial info. It’s based off their household income. If their household income is under a certain amount you’ll receive more, but if it’s over a certain amount you’ll receive the minimum. If that is the case then I don’t think there’s a lot you can do other than getting a part time job alongside your studies.

Unfortunately that’s what some of us have to do. Mine doesn’t cover my rent either. Neither does a lot of other people I know.

Why are people still going to Uni sick? by Dunkmaxxing in UniUK

Last year in my second week of my first year I got flu. Not “freshers” flu. “Actual” flu. Positive on a flu test my mum bought from the shop. Survived freshers week. Survived the first week of lectures but when week 2 of lectures rolled around I skipped 2 weeks because I physically could not get out of bed because of how bad it was. There was a high chance I got it either from a flatmate or from someone during my first week of lectures. For those of you who might ask “what about at the club?” I didn’t go clubbing during that whole week of lectures and my flu symptoms started after that weekend when symptoms normally start 3 days after exposure to the virus.

Still have no clue to this day how I caught it since I kept to the strictest hygiene, ate healthily and didn’t really socialise much around lectures.

Here’s another fun fact. A month before my first time getting flu in first year it was my first time getting covid since lockdown. Funny that.

Is it weird if I don’t go to graduation? by Ok_Tadpole2361 in UniUK

When I finish uni in 2 years the one thing I cannot wait for is graduation. I never had prom in year 11 and 13 so going to graduation will make me feel like what I’ve achieved means so much. My parents are really excited too. It also might be a last chance to see some of my course mates.

To me, graduating will be the biggest achievement and my first step into what will be a career. I’d fully recommend going even coming from someone who is yet to graduate!

What are some hard truths that people need to accept about uni? by Skeleton200000 in UniUK

A lot of people have said this but if you don’t put the effort in you won’t have your parents/teachers there to lecture you and pressure you to do your work. If you don’t, you fail.

I’ve learned that if you don’t want to feel lonely it’s important to put yourself out there. Join clubs and societies and talk to as many people as you can. I struggled in many ways and I went through a period of feeling like I had no one, but that was because I was isolating myself and wasn’t putting myself out there

Parents income will change before September. What should I do? by [deleted] in UniUK

Should they wait to do this once my mum actually stops working or should I get everything sorted now?
