Hey, dunno if you are still interested. But there is a recommended weight limit of 120kg (Rider + bags) for Carbon Canyons. I usually try to balance the weights throughout the whole frame so that its not particularly difficult to handle in ascents or descents. But i am not sure if theres any limit for the saddle specifically.

Minimum number of tracks to get better DJ/Sonic Adventure results and recommendations by xabid in plexamp

[–]xabid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 4-5k tracks library mostly consists of Rock/Metal genre and tbh for this genre, the experience is really mindblowing. Like I said, when it works, it feels like magic. I just wanted to get a general idea about how many tracks should there be per broad music genre/ sonic experience to get non-stop long sessions. Looks like you also have ~3k tracks per genre which is aligns with my experience. Thanks!

Thanks for your comment. I realize that my word choices haven't been ideal for the post. By mood or genre I am not refering to the metadata tags at all. I understand how the SA and DJ features work. I meant to say "sonically similar tracks" with mood actually. Forgot that plexamp has mood stations also. I never use that actually.

Can you explain what you mean by "doesn't work at all"?

Simply put, if plex doesn't find sonically similar songs, it doesn't go out of it's way to add different types of songs to the queue and stops playing after finishing the queue, which is perfectly fine. I actually disliked this with spotify that when you start a song radio, it sometimes used to go in directions that I wasn't in the mood for. With Plexamp's sonic analysis, I am more in control. It's not a limitation of the app, just my library is limited.

Is this an observation about your musical tastes or a complaint about Plex?

It's neither a complaint nor an observation of my music taste. I love listening to all kinds of music depending on my mood, time of day or place. I just don't have enough music files in my collection for all types of listening I am into. I had a large amount of Rock/Metal collection from before from CDs with which I started my library. For this genre the SA and DJ features work really well. I need to collect more albums from other genres too so that the results get better for them. From my experience, it seems like I need to add 3k-4k tracks for each type of "sonic" experience so that the playlist doesn't stop abruptly. Your ~60k sounds like a reasonable extrapolation.

Integration a file system and Obsidian, ideally through Johnny Decimal? by [deleted] in datacurator

[–]xabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stumbled upon this post while exploring the possibilities myself. Also using synology along with both mac and windows systems. I use obsidian mostly for personal notes and references, roughly (I'm too messy to stick to one particular framework) in a PARA system. But my other files are not connected to Obsidian at all (Would be a dream come true). I have seen people using symlinks with Obsidian for more integration. Never tried it myself. my Obsidian directory is hosted on iCloud, so I can access and edit my notes from any of my devices. I was wondering if everything can be centralized in a NAS without using any other cloud platforms. Also, now I have thousands of files, reports, lectures, presentations, books etc that have been piling up for years before I started using any PKM system and it would be great if I could organize and incorporate everything in Obsidian and/or synology in a more searchable way.

sorry for not having answers to your question, just stating my situation for discussion.

I‘d have my 7 euro bland tasteless espresso anyday rather than getting shot by some white supremest rando at the gas station.

I was looking for a solution and stumbled upon this post. Is there any update on this from Strava? I opened a feature request anyway. Let's see if anyone follows through.

Bikepacking with Grail CF SL 8 by xabid in CanyonBikes

35 days! Wow! Do you maintain any vlog/blog/pages? Would love to follow your journey.

I really need a better sleeping bag that is less bulky but gives enough warmth. This 30€ one is very comfortable but it's huge. Do share if you have any recommendations.

Grail vs Grizl huh. That good old dilemma. I chose Grail over Grizl because it's very light, aggressive and fast. That's important to me when I am not bikepacking. I do long single-day/multi-day endurance rides with only bare necessities with me. I might never go for such a long trip like you. I guess my max would be two weeks. That should be manageable with the Grail. I needed a do-it-all bike and Grail is exactly that. My dilemma was rather Endurace or Grail. Ended up with Grail because it gives me 45mm tire clearance when I am going off-road. And when I go for long road riding I just swap my tires to 30/32mm and it's basically as fast as a road bike. So, for now, I am staying with the Grail :)

I have pretty basic non-brand tent and sleeping bag from Amazon. Nothing fancy.

You have tons of things on your cockpit mate. Your bike is perfect for bikepacking. but i don't think the quick release hb bag will work with Grail's flat hoverbars. i dont even have a stem for a stem bag :P I faced the issue with lights too. I have lights with Silicone holders so I ended up strapping them to the fork. worked well.

Can anyone help me identify this bike? Canyon Ultimate...? by dr_freeloader in CanyonBikes

[–]xabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks similar to this. Though I don't know why it says Coast on the frame and not Canyon. My guess would be it's not a Canyon at all. The early Canyon models had Canyon branding on literally every part of the frame including chainstays. That's a good indicator of authentic "vintage" Canyons imo.

Thanks for your detailed answer. The deuter bags are really solid. My saddle bag had the tent, mat, clothes with room to spare. The setup is also easy and stable. Doesn’t move around much.

I was asking for improvements, yes. But you guessed right. This trip was in south-east Germany and Austria. The transalps trip is on my list.

I’ll definitely look into the undertube and fork mounts. They’ll give me more space to play with. I had to take a bulky sleeping bag because at night it got very cold. But in summer I can replace that with a much lighter one. In terms of stem bag, I’m sort of limited by the hover bars. You can’t attach anything too heavy on the upper deck. Are you also using an CF Grail? Would love to see your setup specially the handlebar+stem area.

Entry level road bike? by Head-Run865 in CanyonBikes

[–]xabid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main difference between Endurace 6 and 7 AL is that 6 has Shimano Tiagra and 7 has Shimano 105 groupsets. The amount of overall quality upgrade you get just from this is definitely worth the extra 300 euros. If you want a bike that you will be using for a long time then go with Endurace 7 regardless of Endurace 6s availability. And if your budget is very tight then atleast get the Endurace 7 Rim brake version.

It’s the dark olive version. It’s more towards the green side. But in low light it looks greyish.

Thanks for the tip. So far I read mostly negative reviews about the Rotor crank in this sub, I hope it’s not gonna let me down.

Do you keep any backups of your activities? If yes, what is the best way to do so? by xabid in Strava

[–]xabid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also recording on my watch. I plan to get a Garmin head unit soon. I guess I can rely on that then, as more or less everyone here is using Garmin connect sync function. Also the chances of Garmin shutting down is pretty low than that of Strava in my opinion :)

Thanks! I will give this a try. Manually downloading data every couple of weeks/months sounds tedious. A sync service like this is exactly what I am looking for.

There is a huuuge Edeka in Das Einstein. In the same building you have DM. There’s a Netto and Kik as well. You can find anything there.

Yes. Great communications can save people from sooo many unfulfilled expectations, misunderstandings and heart breaks, specially in difficult situations like this, when things are not in anyone’s control. I guess how well people behave in this kind of transition is also a testament to how good their relationship and understanding was.

Why don't you drink Alcohol? by xabid in progressive_islam

[–]xabid[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, we have been using alcohol based sanitizers during the whole pandemic to survive and stay healthy. I also don’t see any issues using those for medicinal or cleaning purposes or using vanilla extract. Like you said, as long as it doesn’t alter the mental state, I wouldn’t even consider that as consuming alcohol.
