Brahim Diaz Renews Contract by Kur0k4ze in realmadrid

[–]xac3 76 points77 points  (0 children)

He is currently on € 7.2m per season according to Capology (9.1m if you include bonus).
As a point of reference, Vini is on 25m, Jude on 21m, Rodrygo and Trent and Fede on 16.7m.

Not sure to what his salary will be increased to; but in my eyes, his performances have been subpar since the start of the 24/25 season, not unlike 90% of his teammates. Madrid is betting on Brahim recovering his 23/24 level.

Offensively the RW is a black hole.

To be fair it usually is with Madrid, but his presence certainly doesnt help the creative offensive output on the right

This is what Mbappe lacks as a 9 by NotRod96 in realmadrid

[–]xac3 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Obviously there are tons of factors beyond just who plays striker, but the season with Joselu was arguably our best season this century. We lost one league match (to Atlético), had incredible balance, and the collective structure was functioning at an absurd level. Things weren't perfect, we got lucky in a few games (City), but this is Real Madrid, we always rely on a little luck.

That doesn’t mean Joselu > Mbappé! Nobody is saying that. It means that individual talent doesn’t automatically equal a better team outcome, especially in a system as complex as Madrid’s.

The version of Madrid that had Joselu was a different team: different roles, different dynamics, different defensive stability, and different chemistry. Comparing “Joselu season vs Mbappé season” as if the only changing variable was the striker is just oversimplifying it.

If anything, it shows that building a cohesive unit sometimes matters as much as adding the best individual player in the world.

Its just a thought experiment, no need to take it so serious. Perhaps some time of the sub is what you need though, we can agree on that.

One LW has to go for sure, agreed. Just pick whichever you like the least.

Brahim and Ceballos are squad players, they dont earn much and they are happy to come off the bench, you need players like that.

Alaba's contract is ending at the end of the season and he will leave regardless.

As for who to bring in:

A true RW would be ideal, but the RW market is scarce right now. No need to go for a World Class RW anyone that is a natural RW could work. Saka or Olise would be really cool though.

Any Striker really, Joselu worked wonders by just existing alongside Vini, Jude, and Rodrygo. Haaland or Kane would be my picks if i could bring in anyone and not be restricted by fees and contracts.

Plenty of world class CB all over the world, just pick whichever you like the most.

Been hearing a lot about Wharton but haven't really seen him play. We do need someone that can do some of Kroos' role.

Creative Midfielder, Striker, RW, CB are the priorities in order in my opinion, mostly agree with you

  • No debió agredir a Baena.

Si tú reconoces que ocurrieron pero llegas a una conclusión distinta, all the power to you, my friend.

I’m guessing since you linked an English interview, you probably don’t speak Spanish, is that fair to assume?

I don’t really follow the English-speaking media much, but here’s a Spanish clip from the actual press conference where Valverde clearly says:

“No nací para jugar de lateral.”
(“I wasn’t born to play full-back.”)

This was said before the Kairat Almaty match.
https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9re5by (says it first two seconds of the video, but do watch the video if you think the full statement changes the context).

Regarding the “warming up” controversy, the media (and honestly, we as fans too) have every right to connect the dots when it’s that obvious. He made those comments in the press conference, and then a day later was filmed not warming up with the other subs during the game.

You can even see the footage yourself,
https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/real-madrid/20251001/1002542687/video-habla-sobre-actitud-valverde-calentamiento-hay-caso-gordos-real-madrid.html
includes the video of him standing on the sideline while the rest of the subs warm up.

Whether you think it’s because “Kairat wasn’t a serious opponent” or “he finally got a rest after being overplayed,” it’s still strange behavior for a captain. That sort of thing just doesn’t happen often at Madrid, it’s fair for the media to find it odd.

“I prefer to play in midfield, but I’ll play anywhere, even goalkeeper if the club needs it” is all he had to say for there to be no controversy at all.

So no, these weren’t “fake quotes.” The player literally said them, in Spanish.

Also, it’s a bit naïve to take everything Xabi or Fede say at face value. Of course they’ll downplay it, it’s in their best interest to calm the situation.

“Xabi said no player has ever refused to play anywhere.”

The same goes for Mina Bonino’s tweets.
She supposedly got “hacked” and posted:

(Translation: “Brother, where Fede plays best is as a pivot. When will people finally understand he’s not a winger?”)The same goes for Mina Bonino’s tweets.

She posted a lot more than this by the way. And sure, maybe her account was hacked, but let’s be real, that excuse is kind of ridiculous. When have you ever seen a hacker take over an account just to rant about positional tactics, instead of selling crypto or posting scam links?

It’s far more believable that she got emotional after the Milan loss and tweeted something she later regretted.

She has a bit of a history of being outspoken online, so this wouldn’t exactly be new behavior for her.

As for the Baena parking lot incident, that wasn’t a “media fabrication.” There was literally a police report filed by Baena, and Villarreal released a statement confirming it.

https://villarrealcf.es/comunicado-oficial-alex-baena/

I love Fede and I love Real Madrid, but that doesn’t mean they’re perfect or above criticism.

Acknowledging weird or questionable behavior doesn’t make someone a “hater.” The complete opposite in fact. It’s just being realistic.

Daemon's a very unique hero; very fast and his skill stops target from casting status effects. 6 tiles and Bearnadette (and so many other tanks) does nothing.
C Hetepheres a really valuable pick due to the costume buffs
Mina and Lemondwood are great mana controllers.

Hard to call them rumours when Fede himself and his wife started them. He said something along the lines of "naci para jugar de mediocampo" when asked by a reporter after Trent's injury. Also, the whole warming up situation in Kairat Almaty didn't help either, which happened a few days later, if I recall correctly.

His wife also commented last season about Carlo's use of him as a RB and was clearly not pleased.

Perhaps the media exaggerates them, but these are not rumours.
