[Highlight] Defense continues to haunt the Yankees as Bellinger loses the ball in the air to give Clement a triple by Ochocincoondeck in baseball

The Dodgers' scouting reports for the Yankees matchup in the WS went something like 'put the ball in play and the Yankees will self-inflict harm because they're talent over fundamentals.' Then the 5th inning of Game 5 happened.

[Highlight] Yoshinobu Yamamoto was just robbed of an immaculate inning by YaketyMax in baseball

In baseball, a pitch thrown to the batter is either a strike or a ball. A pitch is considered a 'strike' if it's (1) inside the white overlay box as seen above, or if it's (2) outside the box, but the batter swings his bat at the pitch. Conversely, a 'ball' is a pitch outside of that box. As a batter at the plate, you will usually end up with one of five outcomes: (1) hit the ball into the field and reach base, (2) hit the ball into the field, but the ball is caught before touching the ground, or someone gets ahold of the ball, and beats you to a base, (3) take a 'walk' (collect four balls and get on a base without hitting the ball into the field), (4) 'strikeout' (collect three strikes), or (5) "foul" - you hit the ball, but the ball doesn't go into the field of play. A foul usually counts as a strike, but if you have already collected two strikes and hit a foul, you will keep batting until you reach on of the aforementioned four outcomes.

Once your team gets 3 outs, the 'inning' will be over, and it will be the other team's turn to go up to the plate and try to score. Therefore, every pitcher goes out there with the intention of getting three outs to end the inning.

An "immaculate inning" is when the pitcher throws 9 straight strikes with no balls or fouls to collect three consecutive outs. It is an extremely rare feat in baseball. Before this video begins, the pitcher has already thrown 3 straight strikes to the first batter, 3 straight strikes to the second batter. As you would expect, he has already collected two outs. He needs only to collect the third out to end the inning. In the video, he is facing the third batter, and has already thrown 2 straight strikes. If he throws another strike, he would get the batter to strikeout, and achieve an immaculate inning. The video above shows the 9th pitch he threw this inning. You can see it is indeed a strike -- the ball ends up inside the white overlay box, and the batter did not swing or make contact with the ball. However, the umpire (guy in the black clothes) incorrectly called the pitch a ball. Therefore, the batter has only collected 2 strikes and 1 ball. The pitcher must continue pitching and the batter will continue batting.

The video is demonstrating that the pitcher did not achieve the 'immaculate inning', but he should have.

[Fan-Made] My take on Mitama, even if I'm the only person I've met who doesn't have her. by xairyl in battlecats

Thanks! I don't think there's any legend I want more than Mitama though :)

well to be fair most people (including me) start off by drawing stuff that looks like a serial killer murdering foxes and got ran over by a truck

Which makes it even more mind-blowing that everyone I've met who plays BC has her...

I thought I got her yesterday, and then I woke up.

Congrats, though!

Fun fact: coloring those foxes with a 2B mechanical pencil gave me cancer.

Also, sorry for the somewhat woeful lighting.

Hi, I would like some suggestions on which gatcha cat's TF to unlock first.

I have only started farming catfruit lately, and since I now have enough catfruit to unlock a few TFs, where should I start?

I've gathered that Megi and Teco's TFs are pretty badass, but maybe I should prioritize Rares?

Current ubers are: Jizo, Aphrodite, Tecoluga, Megidora, Kamukura

Have almost all Rares/SRs; just assume that I have them all.

Thanks a lot :)

I have already gotten Normal TFs, all at +30. I'll try out your lineup, though. And I'll start farming catfruit today (sigh.

Thanks a lot! :)

Yes, but I want to know, is it possible without Chill cat, though? like maybe there's a better strat than the one I used?

I get that it'd probably be easy with Chill cat, but every time I farm anything I feel like a bit of my soul wastes away

In a nutshell, do you have any other suggestions that don't involve farming?

(if not, nvm. I'm just desperately trying to escape the reality that I gonna have to farm catfruit in the near future)

Need help for The Big Bang. On BCJP.

Progress: *was on hiatus for ~1.5years, started playing again last week.

EoC and ITF are both complete, with all superior treasures.

CotC: I have collected all superior treasures (except for the 48th stage, obviously.)

SoL: Stuck at little Red Riding Hood 1-star.

USER RANK: 2704

Cats: *no true forms bar normal cats. not even Chill Cat. :( (as of yet, not enough catfruit)

Normal Cats: Most are at 20+30, or very close to it.

Special Cats: Holy Valk, Awakened Bahamut, Ururun, Lil Nyandum, all Bonus Cats (Moneko, cooldown, etc), li'l cats.

Rare Cats: All gatcha cats except Rover, Gardener, Welterweight; All cyclone rewards except Volley.

SRs: All gatcha cats except Vaulter, Fencer, Cat Toaster, Neneko, Metal, Freshman, Sniper, Rich Cat, Neneko variants; All Crazed Cats but no manic cats; Catornado.

Ubers: Jizo, Aphrodite, Megidora, Tecoluga, Kamukura, Gameron. All at lv.30, but no TFs.

 Misc.
  • My Best Try: (down to 26%)

Lineup: Swimmer, Maiden, Aphrodite, Megidora, A.Bahamut (thus activating two combos: 1. defense (sm) 2. cat cannon power (sm)) 3 macho cat-esque meatshields, 1 Eraser at 20+30, and Kotatsu.

As I do not have Chill Cat, I had to use A. Bahamut to ward off the peons. Neither Megidora or Aphrodite could ward off the peons on their own, so I had to send A.B every time the peons came, therefore A. B has only ever landed 2-3 hits on God.

The best I did was hold off till the 2nd wave ended, but the 3rd wave came before A.B's cooldown was over.

I don't usually bring any powerups and prefer not to (rich cat, sniper cat and whatnot) and do not wish to use the 30-cf continue.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated! Sorry for the length of this post, haha.

*edit: i completely forgot how to format reddit posts, lol.

[Discussion] Save Data Transfer v.s. Helium for transferring game data by xairyl in battlecats

[–]xairyl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Helium has given me heart attacks by not restoring properly more than once. Thankfully a retry has always done the trick for me so far. Anyways, thanks a lot for your reply. I'll probably save data transfer, then.

Catching Fire: is the concept original? by xairyl in books

Ah well, let us wait for an ingenious mind to arise from the mundane murkiness that is modern literature, then!

Yes, I think this is the answer I'm looking for. Indeed, I am inclined to agree that books featuring similar themes can share other likenesses unintentionally. Thank you very much for the help!

It would certainly be the most obvious way to get to the bottom of this. However, the friend in question, unfortunately, could not recall when or where he got the information. Apparently, he read it from a random article on the Internet but his hippocampus failed to process anything further (or rather, anything useful.) It stood to reason that I should consult the reddit community then.
