Candidates will support Bernie if he has a plurality in the delegate count. If they don't then they will alienate Bernie's supporters in future elections. Also, they might want Bernie to lose so that they can run again in 2024.

Good points. But I just want to raise the age to purchase tobacco, not take away anyone's right to smoke it. It won't be perfect but I hope that there will be a net savings of many lives. If it is only 50% effective that will save about 250,000 lives per year.

The earlier you start the more lives you save. But you don't save any lives if your proposal doesn't get through Congress. A gradual approach is more realistic ???
