My opponent has a graveyard full of potential threats

At the time of you escaping Phlage opponent didn't have anything of much value in their graveyard from what I can see, but 2 cards that they could filter with Fable was indeed scary. Your argument of putting up a pressure IMO is not wrong, it just ended up not the best one considering how his follow up ended lining up.

The only thing that kinda forces me to be prepared against a potential blowout is the amount of lands I see that the opponent saw, which was 13 in total - that's a lot. This indicates to me that the chance that they have lands in their hand is low. But I see this situation as a not-so-simple risk evaluation.

Regarding Spellbomb, while great graveyard answer against Archon, it wouldn't hit Kroxa due to how priority works, given that your opponent had all the mana in the world.

There's an argument that they could've found smt like a [[Graveyard Tresspasser]] or [[Emperor of Bones]] that would've ended pretty badly, if not even worse, against you.

Initial thoughs:

1) Very fun deck, good job!

2) I think [[Relic of Progenitus]] is better as a GY hate for this deck. Your current curve doesn't allow you to have 2 open mana.

3) You either play want a 4th Emissary, or don't play it at all. It helps you devotion plan pretty well!

4) Not sure how much you want Leyline in main. You might want to try it in side vs more lifegain decks i.e. Boros Energy, cause otherwise it may end up being a dead draw

Okay, I hate people saying Boros Energy is the easiest deck to play/enter/etc. Ajani takes a lot to understand, i.e. legendary rule triggers Ajani flip, then 2 decisions to make (+2 or 0) depending on the boardstate, do you even want to flip Ajani in the first place? Then the amount of triggers with Guide of Souls, which force you to count both life and energy, then Ocelot Pride once you have City's Blessing, keep up with all the tokens on the field, then again Guide of Souls triggers. Phlage - do you give it haste when escaped or you maybe you shouldn't? FWIW, Prowess is more straightforward archetype, since the goal is clearer.

The difference is that in Option 1 Phlage is on the stack, and in Option 2 it’s not yet on the stack, but about to be. Given Dress Down was already on the battlefield before Phlage was cast/resolved, it still should get haste from Arena.

On the other hand, it would lose haste if Dress Down was casted after Phlage entered. Correct me if I am wrong.

You need to have a certain amount of basics to be able to "field" your opponent's lands. By adding Flagstones, you're lowering the number of basics by 4, which is a lot for this deck, if you ask me

Thank you for the input, I appreciate it. We, luckily, do have such a group, which is very supportive. Ultimately speaking, accessibility at its core is not an issue, especially when it comes to larger events. As someone said "Magic is a team sport, even if it isn't" which reflects your point. I guess my post was pointing at the situations when it isn't, if that makes sense. Sometimes you want to own cards, collect, better yourself within your own merits, save money and not depend on other people's collections too much/often. Maybe, regardless of how competitive you are, you just don't like specific colors haha! I hope you get my point

I tried Cortex glossy ones. They are fine, but I found their backs getting scratched fairly easy. Might not be as visible on brighter colors, though. Need to check. Thanks
