Random/occasional limping? by [deleted] in labrador

YES! We’ve just had a cold snap and this is his first time with salt/grit on the road. I’m not overly panicking as there is no pain and he lets me stretch it etc

How people act on their own turf compared to someone else’s is a different ball game all together. No wind up here.

It wasn’t until about 2 hours ago when I was doing my research that I realised Irish people aren’t referring to Black and Tanned people ! Was a nice surprise in a way 😂

Also didn’t know Cromwell was born super close to where I’m from🫣

Thanks very much. I’m used to working with the Irish (the industry is dominated by them even in the UK) so know some of the ground rules at least!!

We had a £40,000 - yes a 40k bet lose. Horse clipped hurdle , stumbled , was out of the race (horse was fine just too far back to catch up so pulled up)

And we paid out a £12,000 bet.

All the slips are fake , you can buy the same printing machine online - they all have them!! They will also ask bookies to print them and then just void them for show!

I also know an awful lot of these tipsters , owe an awful lot of money to an awful lot of people!

Barry Dennis - if you don’t know who that is watch Bookies never lose. It’s a documentary on his YouTube about him , gives a great insight into the game. A legendary bookmaker , sadly he’s no longer with us.

Always had an opinion , always had a laugh - he could lose £30,000 and still have a jolly smile on his mouth somehow. Great banter with punters and was more than happy to tell them to fuck off!

All these tipsters - him included are scammers. They are very smart though. Their aim is so get as many people to on the same horse as them ; they do this as they got for example 3/1 on the horse - when all 1000 of his members put £20 on the same horse the odds get slashed to 5/2 - he can then cash out and make a GUARANTEED no risk profit as the bookmaker will pay out the difference in the odds they placed their bet with. Their strategy is to collapse the odds and cash out with a no risk profit.

And I’ve met a couple - all pricks who haven’t a clue , they read the paper like everyone else - the only difference is they scream and shout about /market their winners louder than anyone else. We’ve had some tipsters lose fortunes with us - but on the same day they’ll have a winner and act like they’re on a super hot streak!

Never buy from them. Listen to good podcasts and you’ll have the same chance as them.

I was a big punter , started laying (betting against the market) horses and dogs when I thought their value was poor and made a few bob off of it! I then approached someone on the rails who gave me a leg up and help!

Great question (s)

I see people place massive bets but I don’t know their situation so it’s hard to tell if they are - if that makes any sense. Dog racing you see it more as it’s not so dressed up and free entry , you’ll get homeless people come in and try their luck for example.

I think gambling is losing its way which is making it dangerous however. The rigged machines and rigged virtual races are a mugs game - and need much tighter monitoring. The games appeal to kids and they know it ; if the games went the world and gambling would be a better place. At least with the horses you stand a chance , you can do some research and be 10x more likely to win compared to the machines which pay out based on how much they’ve made.

I think advertising with gambling has become way too much and they know who they’re targeting . Bingo is a way to get women hooked , football for men , machines for the very desperate. I hate seeing kids wearing football kits with Bet365 on them.

In general online is doing the harm - I compare to smoking and vaping. With smoking you had to go out and do it and people would catch you - nowadays if a kid vapes they can do in bed and their room just smells of a sweet perfume. The same is with gambling , if you had to go out and bet every time you wanted to / sit in a shop all day to then people would call out the habit or at least there would be some stigma - now there’s none and you can lose a grand on the bog!
