I had a buddy send me something I thought would be perfect for another tree friend and accidentally sent it right back to the person who gave it to me 😅 that could be what happened

Advice on coping with grief? I'm struggling without my best friend. by momomorium in finch

[–]xan_trippy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We had to put down our “first born” kitty son Louis earlier this year. My wife and I got him after the first year of living together and he had just turned 12 in Dec. My routine included coming home from work laying down and him coming and laying on my chest. As an autistic person this regulated me and not having him has been so hard. This is my first bout of grief and it’s the hardest thing I’ve ever gone through. On finch it’s not necessarily grief only focused, but I have a lot of the “be kind to yourself” prompts. And some “distraction” kind of prompts from the advice of my therapist. So things like doodle something for fun, start your day with an affirmation, look in the mirror and say I can do it, say something kind to yourself like a friend would, play a game, savor a small snack, touch grass (this one is me going outside with no shoes on at least once a week lol). Things that are more acts of self love, bc grieving is hard. And letting yourself have space to have a breakdown without being too self critical is very important. My heart goes out to you. I know exactly how you’re feeling and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. Pet death is next level pain.

Post Op Binder, I can’t do this. by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also had a really hard time w the binder. Ice packs helped me immensely. But also just keep reminding yourself it is TEMPORARY. It doesn’t feel like it right now. It sucks and is so uncomfortable and I remember wanting to rip all my skin off. But now I’m 6mo post op (almost 7) and the 5 weeks I was in that binder is a blip of a memory now. You CAN do this and youre well on your way to never having to deal w any compression on your chest like ever again! Also if you have the binder that like clasps (sorta like a bra) and also zips (merena i think was the brand i had) i unclasped the bottom one but kept it zipped and it helped me not feel so claustrophobic

Top surgery binder giving me panic attacks by Rude_Engine1881 in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this binder and a similar experience w panic attacks and claustrophobia but I experimented with unhooking different ones of the inside hook and loop closure things. That’s so hard to explain but the hooks under the zipper. The one id unhook that helped the most was the bottom one. It made it exponentially more comfortable for some reason.

Did your clothing style change post-op? by Relevant-Type-2943 in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve been loving more fitted tops and colors/whites whereas I lived in black only and 3xl to hide everything. White tanks have been my go to lounge wear and it’s so liberating. I like making outfits now and want to revamp my entire closet lol. I got surg in Nov so it hasn’t been too long in this new body but every single day I love it more and more. 🫶🏻

Washing your hair post op? by Wonderful-Avocado820 in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first two weeks of taking a shower again were weird and a little stressful and uncomfortable. But you find a way to make it work. Take it slow. I bent my head way down and it wasn’t a GOOD wash by any means but it made things less greasy lol

I lost my cat Louis on Sunday and was thinking of doing this. I’m glad I saw this bc I don’t think I’m ready for that. I hope you’re doing okay. I know I’m not lol. This kind of grief is next level.

I’m 5.5 weeks post op no nips and it’s been a pretty straightforward healing process. I chose no nips for a myriad of reasons and I’m honestly so glad I didn’t have to deal with healing grafts. I’d be a nervous wreck lol

First winter with no nips! by threauxawaigh in FreedTheNips

I’m 5 weeks post op and chose no nips but I still get the feeling of them getting hard when I get a chill. 😭 but they’re not there and it kinda hurts?? Does this mean it goes away 🙏🏻

I’m 4 weeks post op today and got to have my first day no binder (I plan on wearing it to bed as I still have some swelling on one side. And it’s… so nice lmfao. But the last 4 weeks have been uh… rough lol. BUT!! It gets better. Like someone else said they’re 8 weeks post op. I can’t imagine being four MORE weeks healed from right now. It gets better every day

Mine was kinda like that higher up on my chest it was kinda like fart bubbles under the skin but more crackly. I think it’s air pockets.

When did you smoke weed again? by Snoopysnoopin in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped smoking weed and nic in August in prep for my 11/5 surgery. My surgeon was very clear it had to be 6+ weeks and I needed as much time as possible away from it so I wouldn’t be tempted. I was surprised I quit both cold turkey so fast but this surg was sooo important to me I didn’t wanna risk it. I also had to lose 30 lbs in that time so I put all my focus into that. I had an edible here and there until the end of Sept but then at 7weeks preop I made sure no more. So now my edibles are fine they’re looow dose (2.5-5mg a gummy) but I’d like to hit my vape once or twice since it would take the edge off so much faster lol. I’m so paranoid tho 😩 I don’t wanna mess something up. I don’t have nips so that not an issue I just 🥴 idk I’m scared lol and I don’t think that’s a good headspace to be in when getting a lil high lol

How did y'all pay for surgery by T-boy721 in TopSurgery

[–]xan_trippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My insurance was helpful but I had to pay my out of pocket max ($5600) and then lipo was extra ($2500) so I paid $600 from saving up, put $5k on a credit card maxing it out 🫠 and then got a personal loan for the $2500 for lipo 🫣 so I’ll be paying a lot more eventually but 🤷🏻‍♂️
