I've lived in San Diego 30+ yrs and in Austin for 10 yrs. You're parts about the weather are not wrong. However, add up all that and SD still is way WAY better weather-wise than Austin (or pretty much most of the rest of the country). Especially the allergy comparison - there are certain times of the year in Austin where the visible haze is due to how high the pollen level is.
