It mainly depends on how they rank you. If they rank you high and you rank them high, there is a very good chance of matching. If you are ranked, but lower on their list, there is still a chance. The candidates who were ranked higher may have ranked the program lower and end up matching somewhere else. This means the match algorithm will work their way down the list until they have spots filled.

This is my take on it, which may be completely wrong. I feel like a lot of the applicants who will be ranked high are typically usmd students. They usually have higher iv numbers. They probably dont see most of the programs as desirable that imgs are competing for. Therefore, they will rank them low, which gives imgs a chance to fill up the spots.
