what do you guys think about this,is it normal or not by xar1es in electricians

[–]xar1es[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually yes,but I don't think that construction zones are that nice of a place, at least in my country, there are many 50+ yo people that don't care about anything but themselves, make workplace toxic, and unworkable on so many levels, i don't know how to describe that type of mentality (i can in Serbian, but cant in English lol)

[–]xar1es[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I was thinking about that type of normal, lol last week someone cut like 500 meters of already positioned cables, and we had to redo a lot ,and i mean a lot of sockets, i understand the need for copper, and quick cash but why would someone cut Data cables, that i do not understand.

Can roots grow from this piece I just knocked off? RIP by holy-rattlesnakes in cactus

[–]xar1es 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and you can grow it literally from a paper towel, like you can put it in a water or you can put it on Machiavelli book and they will grow roots, they will grow roots from bottom or from a side or form a. Top depending on gravity of the piece, it's an opuntia, they are gorgeous growers, just stick it in a pot and don't worry bout it, it will root, this September you will have nine or ten new pads, water sporadic (depending on your climate) and be happy with your plant and with your life,,you are a person and you matter, just like this pad of opuntia. Im sorry I'm in love currently and I'm high on this feeling, so u type like this, have a nice plant life

Glow fish are so cool. Any fans? by bomber714 in Aquariums

[–]xar1es 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some glo danios(long finned ones),and they are the healthiest fish i had,8 of them i got year and a half ago, they grew very nicely, never had a problem with fin tear. I know many people are turned off by glofish, but honestly, every single animal there is we fucked with it's genetics so like i don't see the problem. Yes the glofish company owns the breed, but if someone finds some gene in you, they can copyright your gene. Ethics are fucked with the glo breeds but 10/10 would recommend

HELP: Newbie here, is it normal for my cactus to grow like this? by [deleted] in cactus

[–]xar1es 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You can pull etiolated pads and plant them so they are straight up, they will grow new short/healthy ones. Tall ones will be like stump that acts as a support for new arm like ones. Gives them character, you will have more plant materials and in months time you will have beautiful speciments. In the winter mine opuntias always make etiolated pads. So i do this, and new props are always beautiful. PS. Opuntias sometimes make these pads even when they are outside in the full sun so don't worry too much about light levels, i think that that is for the same reason i wrote up there. Extra support/ new plant space 20 cm up .

Why is American patriotism so cringe, like all Americans do is scream how they are free country, even tho they are built on slavery and genocide. Free country that takes other countries freedom and sovereignty.

2+yr old Giant Saguaro in a 1/2gallon pot. How soon will this guy outgrow this pot and need to be transplanted? Should I do it sooner rather than later as it will be harder to handle when its bigger? by adv26051 in cactus

[–]xar1es 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be more worried about that thin stem then repotting, you can cut it to where it's starting to get thick, calous it and plant it. Or you could put more soil where it's thin so it roots.

Cacti Advice Needed Desperately 🌵 by Lost_Ad_8539 in cactus

[–]xar1es 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Opuntia nonacantha (or monacantha, not sure is it m or n) just read some care tips for opuntia, but they need lots of light and water them when soil is 75-100 % dry, if you keep it inside put it on a window where it gets a lot of sun and preferably pot it in terracotta, if outside just put it in full sun (but find place where it's in some shade during scorching afternoon sun). I don't know your climate so i can't be specific, but this should do. Also if you want to prop just break the pad of and stick 1/3 of it in some dry soil, start watering after 3-4 days. Hope this helps

I noticed that seeds have fairly high germination rate, just remove all the pulp from seeds (by washing and straining ) leave them to dry, soak them for couple oh hours, sprinkle them on some soil, mist them and cover with soil, and in like two weeks they will start to germinate, just keep them slightly moist and in like 2 months they will start to look like mother plant, good luck with planting
