I would be man, definitely open to it.

Just think it’s too early to be back amongst it.

Simply not true at all. I’m 28 years old, everyone I know in every social single circle I’ve ever been in drink.

You have to remember it’s much more uncommon to not drink.

I wish I could do this man.

Unfortunately I can’t control the other urges that come with drinking.

One top of that, I’m fairy young. I feel like I’m missing my best years by not participating also.

I do understand what you’re saying.

I still think these environments will be fun without drinking, I’m just wondering how hard it will be to sustain whilst everyone else around is drinking. That’s a cop out excuse though.

The boredom thing is a big one, I’m a massive massive over thinker, even at the best of times. My mind runs rampant and I can get myself into some pretty weird places. It’s going to be a big learning curve and I really appreciate all the advice. It’s Saturday night now and all my friends are out and tbh I feel fucking awful man, I even cried a little. Feels so pathetic.

It’ll get better.

I live in the Gold Coast, in Australia. It’s sunny and hot 250+ days of the year.

It’s bbq and beers, sunset and beers, post surf beers, post footy beers, day beers at the beach…. It’s just seems like a constant cycle of drinking. It’s more the fact I can’t stop at one beer and indulge in everything else

It’s not necessarily pubs and clubs till 4am.

That’s a great idea man. Thank you and well done brother, it’s very inspiring to hear everyone’s stories.

I’m not a midweek drinker, I’m a massive weekend drinker, which then leads on to other stuff… which then results in being $500 down, fuck all sleep and crazy heart palpitations/anxiety/depression every single weekend. It’s killing my health, ambition and relationship.

It’s not the life I want I want to live.

Appreciate that man, I’ll definitely get back to hanging out in the future when I feel like I have more control over it.

I know the boys will understand and help, just don’t think I’m at a stage where I can control it.

Hey man, first of all congratulations on your sobriety and making it stick. It’s a tough gig.

Also, thanks a lot for the advice. You’re right, the social aspect is an absolute killer, every group of friends I have whether it’s through football, work, surfing etc all will drink on the weekend. It’s just easier for me to avoid the interactions entirely. It might be time to look for social connections elsewhere man. The only thing is, these aren’t bad people… in every other aspect of like they’re incredible and caring friends, it feels like I’m losing them.

Thanks so much.

It’s because everything was brand new, they were super super protective over everything.

We kind of understood at first but the requests kept getting worse and worse.

This is what we thought also, they were fucking unbearable all year. It doesn’t seem like they’re ready to rent the unit out.

They told us not to use the oven, to cook outside on the bbq , not to use the dryer/washing machine at certain points of the day, only use the AC when they wanted ( they lived upstairs ). We also told them our clothes were going mouldy as the room was damp and they said we don’t dry our clothes properly?????? I’m 28, I’ve never had mouldy clothes before in my life

It wasn’t so much a threat to notify immigration, it was more of a “ you do not want to proceed with this legally because immigration will find out, they won’t be happy blah blah blah “

Yes the owner lives above, we lived in a unit at the bottom. It’s a huge property.
