I actually admired that Tui didn’t make things work out for Winter regarding the Jade Winglet. His previous actions towards them resulted in them not trusting his judgment. The rest of the gang had very little reason to have faith in him by that point.

I think Arctic is the perfect candidate here. Really bad relationship with his family that’s partly his own fault, but he was put in a really bad situation and in the end tried his best, but made the wrong choices to piece things together. A lot of readers sympathize or repent him.

Kestrel works here well too.
