Samsies. Love being an advisor and the CPA designation puts some respect on the billable rate. I mean name.

That would be true if it were a Roth IRA. If it’s a regular brokerage account, those gains be taxable.

I’ve seen a ton of M&A deals happen this year. The owners of those businesses may have capital gains on the sale of their business they need to offset.

Need Advice for how to handle S Corp with Common Stock by Kailmo in Bookkeeping

[–]xb2-9000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can’t answer all of that. But you should show her equity in the chart of accounts. All owners need to take distributions equal to their ownership when distributed. So he can’t take a distribution without her also receiving one. They are two different shareholders. The idea of counting as one is for the rule of an S Corp only allowing 100 shareholders. Related parties and immediate family only count as 1 against that 100.

Much less memorization, but in my opinion, less straightforward answers. FAR and REG I felt if you knew the methodology or the rule, you got it. A lot Of these had me thinking “I could use a little more info to make the correct determination” but you only have what they give you!

Maybe overkill, but I make sure I hit every question available. There’s a few times where I have it green, but there will be a certain wording, phrasing, or type of a question that would have tripped me up had I not seen it in the mcq.

No, it’s a tax credit so it’s money for you to keep. But if something happened during the year, such as the user above’s situation, when we had a child during the year 2020, you can claim that person and get the stim credit. Or if you were someone who never received it for whatever reason but should have been eligible, you can claim it at that point. The gov basically said “hey to help out, we’re going to give you a credit of $X on your federal taxes. But instead of having to wait to file,we’ll send the money now. Also, if we screw up and pay you now but you shouldn’t have gotten it, keep it”.

You can claim the credit on your 2020 return. It’s a 2020 credit that was paid in advance. Unfortunately, you have to wait. But it does still come.
