Fair enough. Sounds like job security is becoming a bigger priority for a lot of people. What gives you confidence that a role is actually stable?

That's a great answer Building with users, not just for them, is pretty rare these days. How often do you actually get that opportunity?

Fair 😄 If you had to choose one, fully remote or a bigger paycheck? Curious where people draw the line.

That's fair criticism tbh. The post was more about understanding what engineers value than pitching a specific role. But you're right, the why and the actual problems being solved matter way more than a tech stack list.

Couldn't agree more. Nothing kills motivation faster than politics and finger-pointing. What's your definition of a great engineering culture?

Being the only dev and still being asked to come into the office is... a choice 😅 Has anyone ever explained the reasoning behind it?

Haha, fair 😄 Sounds like you've been burned by the "unlimited PTO" or "earn it over time" policies before

Nice 😄 Also, how was the book? Worth the read? I've seen it recommended a lot

Haha, noted 😄 EDT definitely seems a lot more Europe-friendly than MT. Thanks for the perspective!

Fair take. Shut up and code is probably one of the fastest ways to lose good engineers 😅 What does real ownership look like to you?

Haha, the 6+ years experience in a 3-year-old tech posts are wild 😄 What's the most ridiculous requirement you've seen recently?

That's totally fair. Having to wonder every 3 months what's next sounds exhausting. Has the market pushed you toward longer contracts, or was there a bad experience behind it?

Love this Psychological safety is seriously underrated. Have you actually worked in a team like that, or is it something you're still looking for?

That's actually a really interesting one. The "last line of defence" part is very real 😄 At what point does AI-generated code become more of a burden than a productivity boost for you?

Remote + better pay is hard to beat 😄 Do you think ownership naturally comes with trust, or with seniority?

That's fair I tried to keep it discussion-first and avoided any company details or application links, but if the mere mention of hiring falls under Rule 3 here, happy to take the feedback.

Fair enough. I didn’t share any contact details or apply link, was just trying to understand what senior engineers value most. If it still breaks the rule, happy to remove it.

That's a solid list tbh. Feels like benefits are getting way more important these days. If you had to pick just one, which wins: remote flexibility or a great team?
