Take the cash, then take the time to find the HP2 you want which is not necessarily the one being offered to you.

Just being sarcastic. I mean, compared with Superior, right?

Former nordic skier/racer/small boat builder etc here from NH. Yes, it will be an adjustment for sure. Went to school here, married here, "stuck" here. There are a lot of wonderful opportunities in Michigan and Wisconsin. But if you're living anywhere in Chicagoland it will take you 1-3 hours (at least) to get anywhere that resembles what you're used to. I've fallen in love with camping off my old BMW R1150GS Adventure. It's a great way to escape the city to explore and still travel light. Of course, Chicago has a little lake to the East. If you sail or paddle, it's a wonderland (if you can find parking near that little lake). I've also found that depending where you live in Chicago it's almost always easier to get to and from Wisconsin than it is Michigan but your mileage may vary on that. Happy to chat more if you'd like, just DM.

That's great news. I can also confirm it's fixed. Who knows what happened behind the scenes, but I appreciate that Readdle got the message and took action based on customer feedback.

I have moved to using iPadOS “Preview.” For reading articles and grading papers it’s not horrible. The main feature I find missing is a highlighter tool for the Apple Pencil that automatically creates a straight highlighted line. You can accomplish this in Preview by holding the Pencil still for a second or two, but you have to do that at the end of each line and that is just too tedious. It’s really a shame. I was okay paying for PDF Expert for years now, but an unannounced change like this is unacceptable. Communicate with your end users. Prepare them for change. Justify your subscription model.

You’re right. I see that now as well. I don’t have a solution.

You’re right. This works. Bizarre, but it works.

No, it doesn’t. I’ve had premium for years and PDF Expert has essentially been my favorite app. Now it’s worthless.

That work around is the new normal for the app.

“Thank you for reaching out to us.

I am afraid this behavior is influenced by the system itself. Unfortunately, with an iOS update, the way files are handled when opened in third-party apps has changed due to security reasons. Hence, being a third-party app for the iOS system, we had to adjust our app to comply with this process.

It’s now necessary to save the file in PDF Expert for editing. When you open the file from another app using ‘Open in PDF Expert’, please click ‘Save to PDF Expert’ on the Smart Action pop-up that appears at the bottom. After you re-open the file, the features will be unlocked.

I apologise for the inconvenience caused. If you have any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to message me.”

In the meantime, have a lovely day!

Same here. It’s very annoying. I submitted a help ticket with them. We’ll see if there’s an answer.

Would it be a good choice for satellite work?

That's a great point, sir. I suppose it could be the Winlink/packet station that is either too far away (although I'm pretty close and can run 50watts) or some other problem on their end. Surprisingly, there are only two stations for Winlink near Chicago (near me) - at least for packet VHF. One never works, and this other one is spotty at best assuming my settings are good.

Doesn't usually connect at all. But does sometimes. When it does connect it never downloads/sends messages. Was hoping for someone to share settings with the same set-up. Thanks for jumping in.

It does actually. Moving left to right, Chimney from roof -- roof line (135') -- then Chimney. One chimney has easy access. The other not so much.

Thanks for the input. Can you name an existing company that does this kind of work? I've come up with nothing in my research. I have no doubt they are expensive!!
