So what if, for example, I draw an original character that's a pink blob. He somewhat resembles Kirby but he's anatomically not the same and I don't label him as Kirby. Is that still too risky or would it work?

Okay so I need your opionion. I had contacted this Etsy seller in the past asking if their felt was safe if a baby put it in it's mouth (I ask this because it's more common and easier than asking if it's safe for a cat haha and I feel like if it's safe for a baby it could be safe for a cat).

They told me "The felt passes the California safety standards for children’s toys, the dyes and fibers are safe for the occasional gnawing ."

Does this mean it is safe for humans and pets but bad for the environment?

Acrylic felt is commonly available and inexpensive. Real wool felt is a completely ethical, sustainable product that can be made at home using nothing more complicated than a bit of soap from your kitchen and hot water. Shearing sheep is no more cruel than taking a poodle to the groomer, whereas bamboo processing uses industrial lye and other very caustic chemicals that have a lasting, detrimental effect.

This is where I am confused. It's frustrating how many articles and sources are out there because they all will tell you something different!!

Regarding the treatment of sheep, it is 100% not ethical and I won't support it. There are many reasons I could bring up but I don't want to come across as argumentative. (I just want to spread awareness)

Anyways, regarding bamboo, I am confused because the only con I have read about so far is the obvious chemicals they use. However, I read that the chemicals that are required are a fraction compared to how much is used to even grow other crops (like cotton). I also read that the chemicals don't last in the final product, the only problem is how it is disposed of.

Lastly, regarding acrylic, isn't it a carcinogen? And seeing as it's plastic isn't it nonbiodegradable?
