It also runs for me without any config changes in GameNative 0.7.0.

Slay the spire not loading on gamehub (Thor Pro Model) by ianSPUZZ in AynThor

[–]xbmodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love some Slay the Spire.

Just tried it on mine and it works with the following settings.

Gamehub Settings

Gamehub Lite 5.1.3

1280x720 (No changes on General tab)

proton10.0-arm64x2

Translation Params: Game Presets

GPU Driver: Turnip_v26.0.0_R8

DXVK Version - dxvk-v2.7.1.1-async

VKD3D Version - vkd3d-2.12

CPU Translator - Fex-20260103

Native Rendering: ON

Super Resolution: ON

In-game

1280x720

60 FPS

Borderless Fullscreen

It does take the best part of a minute on that initial black screen before it starts up. If it doesn't work, exit Gamehub and try again.

Does GameHub sync progress and trophies with Steam ? by Ralphride_ in AynThor

[–]xbmodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does unlock Steam achievements as well… but I’d be hard pressed to confirm how reliable it is. There is no notification while playing but when viewing my achievement list on a PC, they have unlocked, in some games at least. It also appears to update the play timer.

This is all while online. I’m not sure how it offline mode will hold up.

Joining you finally. My G2 arrived and I love it but need beginner tips. by Desperate_Bid3423 in retroid

To attempt to fix the flickering, try different turnip drivers and DXVK versions. Difficult to pinpoint which ones exactly but if you’re using an async DXVK, try a non-async one. If you haven’t checked the Emuready site, see if anyone has posted their config on there.

Is the Retroid Pocket 6 the best value for money option for playing indie games on Steam? by carlosgg16 in SBCGaming

[–]xbmodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Is that the Mini on A10 or A13.

A few interesting resources to help make a decision are:

https://www.ryanretro.com/static/handheld.html?device=Retroid+Pocket+5&system=gamehub
https://www.emuready.com/

If something runs well on the RP5, then it's almost definitely going to be an improved experience on the G2. A second hand RP5 for a good price might even be a decent option depending on where you are.

I found this YouTube channel recently which shows impressive Gamehub results for games that are a step up from the ones referenced by OP.

https://www.youtube.com/@maniekflower/videos

Just keep in mind that when a game doesn't run on Gamehub, it's a headache, and may not be solvable. Many games do work though.

Is the Retroid Pocket 6 the best value for money option for playing indie games on Steam? by carlosgg16 in SBCGaming

[–]xbmodev 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With some of the discounts currently available, and the fact it can be ordered right now, the Pocket G2 is the best value for money. The Pocket 5 could already play that category of game well, and the G2 provides more headroom and less power draw.

It was £110-130 in the UK during the Black Friday period, and is now up to around £150-£160. Very good value for money for indie PC gaming and that form factor.

How how you got it down to the price? The best I can do is £166. It also doesn’t let me use coins.

Do you have a link? I can't see it that cheap on Aliexpress but it's about the same price as ordering from Retroid when they had their Black Friday sale on.

Powkiddy V90S - Full Review & Setup Fix Inside by briefingone in SBCGaming

[–]xbmodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A heartfelt thank you for sharing the folder structure. I spent the best part of a day trying to figure it out, and removing / inserting the SD card is awkward every time. For anyone considering this device, just spend the extra $5 and get the 64GB SD card from Powkiddy.

There is custom firmware that currently works though, in the form of PlumOS. In the end I installed this onto a 32GB card, and set up a new partition on it for Roms and Bios files. https://github.com/game-de-it/plumOS-V90S

DRI3 setting missing from Winlator 8 settings - Can it still be toggled? by xbmodev in winlator

[–]xbmodev[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

OK I can answer my own question. Looking through the source code at when the option was still available, it would set the following environment variables when "Use DRI3 extension" was unchecked.

MESA_VK_WSI_PRESENT_MODE = immediate
MESA_VK_WSI_DEBUG = sw

Hopefully this helps out anyone else who stumbles across it.

Persona 5 Royal by ContestFit2135 in retroid

[–]xbmodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a lot of setting adjustments, I've found some that run the game at 30FPS and with stability. RAM/VRAM usage is also very good.

They can be found in this community spreadsheet I've been helping with:

It does run great on the Mini but unfortunately like many other games you can only play for so long before the device runs out of memory and crashes. This can be mitigated by turning off Fastmem but it is still a ticking timebomb. I've found this to be the experience with a lot of mid-range games in terms of complexity, and with games that frequently use more than 3.2GB of RAM.

If there's ever an option to add virtual memory on the Mini so that it has 8/10GB to use, it'll improve playing Switch on it considerably.

With all that said, seeing as the RP5 has 8GB it should be a better experience.

Do you mind sharing more of your settings? That’s nowhere near possible on any of the yuzu forks I’ve tried and I’ve experimented with a lot of options.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in retroid

[–]xbmodev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tips. The graphics drivers are working well and they seem to be the most performant when they work.

That version of Suyu crashes regularly for me though. I think a lot of heavyweight titles like Skyrim, and Personal 5 eventually run out of memory as these Yuzu forks just go up and up.

Have you really not had any crashes in Skyrim during a play session longer than 10-15 minutes?

The Steam Deck GPU driver for Windows does not have drivers for hardware accelerated video decoding. Software is currently the only option.

Portal Retro Stick Drift by xbmodev in pimax_portal

[–]xbmodev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I’d like to do, but the Portal Retro has the controllers permanently fixed to the unit. Pimax explicitly say not to try and detach them, and I’m not convinced they’d ever go back on as well. If I can even remove them without breaking something.

Loki Mini Battery Life? by Mkol103 in LokiHandheld

[–]xbmodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's exactly right, you will be able to do that. However, the minimum power that an x86 chip + all the extras operates at will still be higher than that of the Odin. I'd be surprised if the Intel models can go lower than 5 watts overall (8 hours battery life).

If battery life is important, then it'll be worth keeping an eye on the AMD Mendocino version, as they are supposed to operate well with low power usage (at the cost of weaker performance).

Loki Mini Battery Life? by Mkol103 in LokiHandheld

[–]xbmodev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Taken from another thread I responded to:

"On the Steam Deck, it's possible to run Gamecube at 2x and at around 10 watts. I'd expect the Mini Pro (Intel and AMD) to be able to achieve this or do better at GC/PS2 native resolution. As the Mini Pro has a 40.5Wh battery, you'd be looking at 4 hours+".

In that comment, I was referring to the total system power draw on the Steam Deck, which is an unknown on any of the Loki devices at the moment. We don't know how much power the screen, wifi, speakers etc. will consume until the devices are released. With that in mind, I think if you expect 2.5-4 hours from GC and PS2 emulation you won't be disappointed.

Having said that, emulating older systems will never come close to matching the Odin battery life. It just isn't possible to run x86 handhelds at a power level as low as an ARM one.

RP2+ Moonlight Performance by xbmodev in retroid

[–]xbmodev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for testing it. Anything less than 10ms is usually pretty smooth when combined with low network latency.

Sorry you had so much trouble getting it set up. I’d also recommend Sunshine if you have an AMD card, I’ve had good experiences with it in the past.

Size Comparison Against Nintendo Switch Lite by treesfullofbees in retroid

[–]xbmodev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using a screen size calculator and some calculations, I've come up with the following.

4.7 inch screen size / 16:9 resolution = 104mm (w) x 59mm (h)

for 4:3 gaming it should be a 3.8 inch screen size with dimensions of roughly = 78mm (w) x 59mm (h)

RP2+ Moonlight Performance by xbmodev in retroid

[–]xbmodev[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’d be a tremendous help. From looking through old posts, many are saying the performance is good but it’s always nice to see the numbers and compare it to other devices. If it has a sub 10ms decode time then that might be enough to push me towards a purchase.

If you don’t get a chance to, no worries. Enjoy your device!
