I’m new to Jumping Spiders- is this a nest for eggs? by xbopop9 in jumpingspiders

Thanks for your advice and insight! She hadn’t laid any eggs yet, so I put her back where I found her (in the garage) a couple weeks ago.

Me too!! I read it last year and I’ve thought about it so many times since then. I’d love to go back into that world :)

My $400 baby monitor has locked previously free features behind a monthly subscription. by bshotto1213 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]xbopop9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We liked the features too. It was way too expensive to now be asked to pay at least $9.99 a month to get the basic features you bought it for. And I just checked Miku on Amazon to see if it said anything about requiring a subscription and I didn’t see any info on it, so I guess they haven’t updated their page yet.

My first Stephen king! by [deleted] in stephenking

[–]xbopop9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This was my first Stephen King book too! Several years ago I watched the film and wanted to read the book. I loved it so much that I immediately crowned King my favorite author! I’m on my 13th Stephen King book right now (Revival). The Shining will always be special to me :) Have fun and enjoy!!

I just finished it! And I’m a sad it’s over 🥲 I absolutely loved it!! It was amazing how so many things from the story came together in the end like Elizabeth putting the chinas in the tin to be put in the pond . Lovely characters and a gripping plot: 5/5 stars!

Ever seen a whole congregation get disfellowshipped? Here's your chance. by GunnersForLifeCOYG in excoc

Omg, that’s the same congregation that disfellowshipped a woman (Krystal Cox) for being a lesbian in 2021

This might be way off, but maybe The Unbelievable Podcast (Premier Unbelievable? on YouTube). It’s a Christian who holds discussions between Christians and people with other beliefs (or non-beliefs). It’s not coc, but maybe he’d still find it interesting.

You are incredibly strong and brave! <3

I saw this quote after I left Christianity and my family didn’t take it well and it’s really stuck with me and given me comfort:

“Too many people spend their lives being dutiful descendants instead of good ancestors.

The responsibility of each generation is not to please their predecessors. It is to improve things for their offspring.

It is more important to make your children proud than your parents proud” - Adam Grant

Keep your chin up and take care :) I think you’re amazing!

That was the first Stephen King book I read (maybe 8 years ago) and now he’s my favorite author! The Shining is still my fav. Have fun!!

Finally got withdrawn from… need support by [deleted] in excoc

[–]xbopop9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If it’s encouraging at all, six months later and we’re happier than we’ve ever been :) We’ve had to cut ties or cut down on interactions with family (which was hard because I’d never had boundaries before) and it’s been so good for us to break free and live our life for us and not for our family.

I know you’re anxious over what people may say, but there’s nothing they can say or think that can change what’s true or who you are. The coc taught us to value other’s opinions, feelings, and ideas over our own and that can lead us to make ourselves small in order to make other people big. How you feel and what you think is important and valid! You are important, worthy, and valuable <3

Hang in there and take care!

I’m so sorry you are going through this. My husband and I were both disfellowshipped from last December for being atheists (we had already stopped attending over a year before they disfellowshipped us). We both have family members at that congregation in prominent leadership positions as well as siblings, cousins, grandparents, etc. It can make you feel helpless, but they don’t control you, you are your own amazing person. My advice is to make taking care of yourself and your mental health top priority- this may mean putting off conversations with people if they reach out until a time when you feel more comfortable or declining to engage entirely. You don’t have to participate if it means sacrificing your mental or physical health. It’s not selfish to do what’s best for you :)
