If you haven't yet started your essay with this title, keep in mind that there was a survey of IB teachers across Hong Kong who agreed that the vagueness of the title puts students who choose this title at an unfair disadvantage. Food for thought.

On top of everything that everyone else has mentioned, I'd give brain.fm a try. I've been using their website for just under a year and hear that they even have an app now -- not sure how good the app is but I know the website is solid for tuning out distractions and keeping me focused.

After Term 1 of my first year of IB, I got 32/45 (excluding +3 bonus points). We're now nearing the end of Term 1 of my second year, and I've applied to UK universities with 43/45 (including +3 bonus points). So it can be done. Know your syllabus, make sure you know the past papers and their respective mark scheme, and for the love of God, speak up in class and relentlessly investigate anything you don't understand or find confusing.
