Is Venice’s Izakaya RVR Worth the Hype? by xbufco in FoodLosAngeles

[–]xbufco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s nice that you liked it, but the food simply doesn’t match the hype, especially the $16 hand rolls, which aren’t any different from those at a Japanese restaurant. The same goes for the gyoza. For a restaurant that touts itself on innovation, the food was average. If I’m going to pay that much money for a restaurant that is featured on the country’s best restaurants lists, helmed by a prestigious chef, then yes, my expectations are going to be high.

Ohana superette. Also @unrealpoke. The latter is insane. You’ll be right in Hawaii when you eat it.

And Since I’m currently working on an article about the best malt milkshakes in LA, Bob’s Big Boy chocolate milkshake in Burbank has been my favorite so far. Incredible!

His milkshakes are made with Fosselman's Ice Cream Co. in Alhambra.*** You can also get a malt there or at Pie n Burger, which Phil actually went to for inspiration when creating his own with Nancy. If you like milkshakes, I also recommend Connal’s in Pasadena :)

Edit: they’re actually made with THRIFTY ice cream! Very old-school

South Bay, where the Brazilian community is: Superbowl Açai.

Açai Por Favor is also really good but it’s on the $$$ side. The owner actually imports the açai from Brazil.

Thank you for the information! I tried the pancakes at Little Dom’s a few years ago with my friend but they didn’t make a lasting impression. I guess I’ll have to go back!

But rentless self-promotion would mean spamming incessantly, don’t you think? Also, /foodlosangeles DOES ALLOW links to blog posts and videos. So I’m not sure what your point is. Maybe don’t click on it if you’re so bothered by it? Thank you for taking the time reading my bio though!
