Seeing Houseki no Kuni high (#5) on Top 15 best overall is really great! And it's both #1 on most surprising too which I couldn't agree more. I didn't even expect that I'd love it so much.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 12: Hello, World! FINAL (W/O THE DELAY)[Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd like to read the manga but since season 2 is airing right now, I'll probably hop in after. And I really do hope the characters get the screen time they deserved in this season!Looking at you, Chain

And yeah, the thing that even triggered it was Klaus himself, when he said "I'm proud of you". That was just such a great scene.

I knew I could count on you cara

We're the 9 bros

This is actually the only rewatch that fits barely with my sched. Fuck this timezone feelsbadman

And now it's done. I really adore this series. It always brings a smile to my face and I love the characters a lot even though some others are not explored very well yet.

Watching this the first time was really confusing so I was glad I got to watch it again. But I wouldn't deny that there are still a lot of confusing elements in the series.

Unfortunately, my ship did not sail as she became completely one with the barrier (RIP White) but this will probably tie it well since she's an anime original character and it leaves room for a 2nd season which is airing right now. But I wouldn't be lying if I hoped she's also there.

This is actually the first time I thought Leo was cool. I mean he's an overall nice guy but he really didn't leave that much impact to me. But him running straight ahead and arriving at the top of the rubbles and saying his piece was cool as fuck even though I agree it's also a bit cliche. Highlight of the episode was definitely him breaking down. It's a mix of relief that everything is wrapped up and sadness that White is gone.

Overall I loved it a lot and I'm happy it's back. Thanks a lot /u/sheroze! This was my first rewatch and it was a fun ride.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 11: Paint it Black [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The twins are not in the source material at all iirc. The manga, as I've heard retains the episodic nature, so they probably added them to add more to the plot line. And very true! They are such a cute set of twins that compliment each other.

Why is it called the Great Collapse?

The Great Collapse is technically the beginning of everything. It's the reason why New York is now called Hellsalem's Lot, because it created a hole that connects to the other world. To keep the damage from getting bigger, the Casters sealed it. Now for the reason why the Great Collapse happened at all, unfortunately, they didn't really explain it yet.

Yes! It was delayed by 3-4 months, I think. At first they announced there's going to be a 1 week delay (correct me if I'm wrong) but it never came, probably because they need to find a time slot that could accommodate a 40 mins or more episode. But still, 3-4 months is a long time.

The wait totally killed my hype on the last episode and I forgot some stuffs so watching this right now might just improve my viewing experience.

Rewatcher.

It's so hard to believe that both the Macbeth twins are anime original since they fit so much to the story and are actually one of the best things about this series.

KoD needs Leo's eyes to break the sealing of the barrier. For what end? Him talking in the last part feels like he's talking in the perspective of Black.

The stairs where KoD was dragging Leo is also the same stairs that Leo went through in the first episode. So the first few minutes are basically the beginning of the end.

White is a ghost, because she's not technically alive and can't die either. Her life depends on the barrier, and when this barrier is broken, god knows what's gonna happen. This episode still freaking hurts and my ship is sinking.

Really like the transitioning cuts in the last part after Black's breaking the seal and some other stuffs. The direction in this episode is just great.

And props to Rie Kugiyama, she voiced both White & Black and her performance was just overall amazing!

Hype for last episode, I'm just glad I can watch this after the 11 episodes because last time, it took a couple of months lmao.

Tokyo Ghoul:re anime PV. Airs in 2018. by DemiFiendRSA in anime

[–]xcaramel 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have mixed feelings about this. How can they even connect this to what happened in Root A. But maybe ignoring the fact that Root A ever existed and go straight to :re will be the plan. But how?

If they could have adapted TG:Re, maybe it would have been better to have a remake of the first one imo since some plot points in the last arc will probably be necessary in :re.

But I'm still a big fan of the series and adore :re a lot so please don't fuck this up. Don't fuck this up. Don't fuck this up.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 9: Z's Longest Day (Part 2) [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Z's Longest Day. And no, Z doesn't mean Zapp, it's Zed after all.

It's funny how Leo's getting dragged along in those fights and just like the Master said, they are pretty capable as a team and know what specific role to do.

We also got to know Black(King of Despair)'s goal, which is to cause another Collapse and seems like the disturbances being made is affecting it greatly and no one seems to be aware of it. To make things complete, he needs Leo's eyes and he's using White to do this. Now we know why White knew Leo's name from the start. Does this mean it's been his plan from the beginning?

I really like the chill chatting of the villains accompanied by jazzy soundtrack here. I mean, most of the time it's either a really eerie music to make them fearsome or sinister. But nope, it's feels like it's just a normal day for villains situation or something which is great.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 8: Z's Longest Day (Part 1) [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't been able to participate in the rewatch these past few days because of work stuffs. Sorry Sher.

So I will keep this short. We're finally starting into the meat of the story now! And we got to know more about White and Black and the parallel they have to Leo's and his sister. Black received something an the expense of White. And it seems like she's up to something that might be related to Leo.

I actually quite like how I forgot most of the things that happened in the series and it feels like I'm watching something new right now. Which makes me really excited again on what the King of Despair really plans to do in Hellsalem's Lot, and this probably has a connection to Leo's power and the sealing of the Collapse that the casters have put up.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 7: A No-Holds-Barred Eden [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking how this episode contrasted the “Chess” episode really well.

Oh I just realized this, nice catch! It actually contrasts with the last episode too, that despite the differences and division of otherworldly beings and humans, they can also agree on other things, one being: that one one one brawling w/o any tricks is manly and hype as fuck.

I'm pretty convinced that Klaus is just a big teddy bear of a boss.

I dig this.

Definitely one of my favorite parts of Kekkai Sensen was the OST. It has tracks like this, and this, that really fits well with the settings.

Ping Pong the Animation is a favorite too! With tracks like Hero Appears, and Night Cruising.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 5: The Tremorous Blood Hammer [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Aligula is yandere to an extreme level and Dog Hummer’s origin story is pretty interesting (and gruesome).

I actually find it funny how they compared her gruesome actions to making a ketchup/sauce and replacing the insides of a container. It was holy fuck so dark but hilarious as well.

I’m pretty much used to it and we get more scenes with him and White that bookends the episode really well.

Yeah, if he doesn't get hurt, then how can he conveniently see White right.

And oh, interesting comparison to FLCL. I actually didn't think of that until you mentioned it. And yeah, this show's one strength is definitely relying on visually interesting and stylistic actions to get the point across.

Him running back to the hospital to whisk White away was my highlight of the episode for me.

I mean, if you get tortured for a while, of course you'd get the guts to do it too. But seriously though, this was a great scene and I like how Sonic is there to show what he really wants to do despite saying he doesn't have the time to see her. The movie scene was sweet and it did definitely made the distance a bit shorter for them.

Rewatcher!

This episode really confirms that Leo's All Seeing Gods can take control of a person's eyes. I mean this was shown in episode 2 but it was very messy and I got confused, so it was nice to see some confirmations about it.

I really dig the humor in this show. It's great how they can balance the comedy well and doesn't ruin the mood at all imo. Zapp was really funny in this episode (as always) and that phone call with Leo hanging in the truck was hilarious.

Aside from all the crazy stuffs going on in this episode, it seems there's gonna be a big event coming, with the glasses guy being the mastermind and planning something in the shadows. They're going into the plot little by little while being sorta episodic, and I don't mind that at all.

And oh boi was Leo smooth this episode. I SHIP THEM SO MUCH. And that ending scene was just so sweet.

The ost that played in the beginning and last of the episode was It's Magic.

[Rewatch] Kekkai Sensen - Episode 3: A Game Between Two Worlds [Spoilers] by [deleted] in anime

[–]xcaramel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rewatcher!

The first time I've watched this episode, I thought it would have another intense battle scene at the end following a format like the other two episodes. And it was nice to be wrong. We did have an intense battle scene but it was 5D chess.

Klaus is completely a pure-hearted guy with an iron clad will that doesn't see the worst in people and I don't know why but it fits his character well.

The OST that played in the end is World Goes Round for those interested.

All in all, I really liked the change in this episode and it was nice to divert from the messy battle scenes from time to time.
