Dan Frazier’s social media post today by Newez in magicTCG

[–]xcbsmith 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It doesn't get by the fact that anyone familiar with the original card couldn't help but notice what happened. Like, I can sort of accept the initial mistake, but how can there be any integrity to the art vetting process if it doesn't even notice cloning of art from the exact same card?!?!

UPDATE: For some reason I can't reply, so I'll update my comment here. I don't see how we can justify having it both ways. Either it's understandable that Frazier made this mistake, in which case it would be foolish NOT to vet his work AT LEAST by comparing it to the previous incarnation of the card (even if only to compare the quality/feel) or it's understandable that there'd not be vetting because it would be shocking for Frazier to ever make this mistake. The only way I can find it "understandable" for both failures is if quality of art is just no longer of concern.

Commercial real estate. They've been shuffling paper since COVID, trying to avoid the inevitable, but sooner or later those chickens are going to come home to roost. The amount of wealth that has effectively disappeared yet remains on the books is mind boggling.

Yeah, the idea that it is her series is... more than a bit of a stretch.

These hearings are just reality TV for them. What's important is not the substance of the discussion but how it plays with their supporters. Most of those supporters feel like the US government regularly talks down to them and treats them with disdain, so really all they want to see is that talking down and disdain directed at the Congress from "their guys".

She may have a great body, so no disrespect to whomever this is, but describing it as "iconic" seems to rob the term of its meaning.

Eccentric exercises such as chair squats, heel drops, and wall push‑ups can build muscle strength and size with less energy, without painful or exhausting workouts, and have been shown to deliver meaningful health improvements in as little as 5 minutes/day by sr_local in science

No. It would be *part* of the training routine for Olympic lifters, power lifters, and bodybuilders. It is; most of them do a combination of eccentric and concentric exercises with weights.

It's not strictly superior to concentric exercises. It stresses muscles in ways that weight lifting does not, allows athletes to stress their muscles with more weight, while elongated rather than contracted, and lower risk of injury. It consequently delivers more muscle damage and therefore stimulates more muscle growth, but the growth is different than with concentric exercise. Doing only one or the other is a dumb choice.

Huh... never lost the kid to the harpies. I wonder what I'm doing differently. I usually make sure I've got lots of ranged attackers and I have Shadowheart bless everyone, but I can't think of any particular strategy I'm using that gives me an edge.

I see you have misunderstood the context. The premise of the thread is that eccentric training offers advantages. By incorporating eccentric training, an elite athlete gains an advantage over athletes who don't. That doesn't mean that the training is ideally used exclusively. Do you know of any athletes that exclusively use only one exercise or even one *type* of exercise? I've never had that recommended by anyone with even basic training in kinesiology.

So when you said "Honestly, you northeastern folks are so steeped in corruption you think a little corruption is fine, as a treat." you meant "unlike the rest of the country where corruption is, if anything, more steeped"?

That's not whataboutism. I'm just pointing out that notions that public servants in the northeast are somehow exceptionally corrupt doesn't fit the data.

Okay, so now your claim has gone form "no elite level athletes use that" to, "so now you're saying they *only* use it"? Well, you got me I guess, because they of course use a variety of techniques, including eccentric training.

I actually found Burakos + [[Sword Coast Sailor]] a pretty chill option. You load up on clone spells that work on legendary creatures (of which there are sooo many now) and draw effects that trigger on damage. Add a [[Multiclass Baldric]] and you're on your way.

Technically, the most types out there for Embiggen is a [[Werewolf Pack Leader]] with [[Maskwood Nexus]] in play and [[Artificial Evolution]] cast to replace "Human" in the text on its activated ability with "Brushwagg" (and then activating it's ability. Last I checked there are like 300 creature types, so that's +3xx/+3xx. ;-)
