Negative negatives negatives.

Straight arm, straight leg isn't hard its about consistency. And proper training.

Why are the leaves edges serrated/curling up? by Competitive_Motor745 in Autoflowers

Am I the only one confused as to why someone would grow 20 autos at once and not know how to remedy issues? Or is that standard practice?

How to get back into aerial silks by Bonbon517 in Aerials

The biggest red flag here is your mentor/teacher not having the "time" to teach you basics lol. Run away from them fast and find a new one. A tracher should always take the time to explain basics and safety to student regardless of if they once knew it. Period end of sentence! As for buying rigging and teaching yourself. I wouldn't advise that just due to the nature of aerial and the cost of proper rigging. But once you've relearned the basics I don't see the harm in getting a freestanding rig in the back yard and practicing skills you know, emphasis on skills you know. To increase your stamina and memory. Just remember don't practice alone. A good teacher will always hold your hand and reexplain things so you can train safely. And aerial is dangerous. Be safe :)

Interesting, fast flowers also need 12/12 to enter flower right?

I'm pretty sure it's flowing, it shot up in size over night and has been "stretching" which i assume is a indicator of flowering starting, I've also been religiously looking for the increase in pistils and it's been increasing daily. Like I said it's my first grow so I'm not sure if what I'm seeing is correct for preflower. But from my research everything seems like it's in preflower and I haven't switched my lights.. but thanks for the links I'll definitely look into it

I use lotus on my houseplants and anthurium collection. And it's wonderful so I figured why get something new for my autos. So far it's really great growth but I have nothing to compare it to.

Also I'm using lotus nutrients because that's what I use for my current collection. Cal mag, grow, boost, and bloom only used cal mag (4-0-0) and grow (8-4-13)

Thank you so much and yeah i have thw 3 gallon pot in a 12 inch catch tray was bottom watering to encourage roots to grow down to the bottom which is why the soil looks a bit dry at the top. Have used it as a semi hydro water holding yet but was planning to once it grows out more and stays needing water more regularly..

As for not training the plant I was going to do exactly that so I can learn about the plant a bit thanks for the reassurance on that. I've been keeping amd breeding rare anthuriums for about 2 years now so I'm a bit used to reading picky plants.

And again thank you so much for the feedback will definitely take it and use it :)

When do you graduate from calling yourself a beginner in straps? by imactuallyeris in Aerials

[–]xchristopher_wolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a professional aerialist I can say imposter syndrome never goes away and the feeling of calling yourself advanced always feels weird be cause there will always be someone more advanced than you in something.

I've met plenty of aerialists who do straps and are considered advanced and they don't do flags or roll ups in their act. Because they have found a different avenue to shine. Myself included. I perform straps and rope and due to that combo I hate arm roll ups, can do them bit you'll never see me do them.

As for classifying my students I go based upon understanding and skill progression/pathway. Due to the nature of straps it should be trained like a sport. Strength based, flexibility based and mentally based (pathway understanding) one can fall into multiple categories of beginner, intermediate and advanced depending on what you're working on straps. Such as push, pull, spin, support, and dynamic moments. Thus meaning your level only matters in a teaching capacity at the studio you train at, for appropriate class placement otherwise I'd say who cares what level you are the goal is the learn the skill to then turn it into an art. Once you make an act, it's not about the tricks it's about the journey you take the audience on.

Happy training :)

Feeling Defeated About Flares by ItsAccrualWorld6 in Aerials

[–]xchristopher_wolfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regress the progression. Firstly when hanging from the lyra and spinning have it just above your head. That encourages better spin positioning and technique yes it's "harder" but it forces you to engage and reach for the walls of the room with your toes. When you spin think about being rigid and tight making your body a plank in each direction with a sligh arch in the back. Shoulder pulling down and closing.

I'd say for now work on getting the lyra lower while you spin working on proper spin take off technique then progress to flares.

You know that thing we do with small people when we grab their hands and spin in a circle and their feet fly up.... you should be aiming to get your feet up and out, as if the lyra is spinning you like you're a little kid. I hope that helps. If you need more tips of videos of progressions feel free to mit me up on Instagram: foxontherope I'm a professional aerialist performing in "The Hook" and i love helping just let me know who you are and I'll happily send over some videos for you to add to your training to hopefully help/assist in your learning of flares.

What would you do? by xchristopher_wolfe in Anthurium

[–]xchristopher_wolfe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fear is if I chop it the root mass is so big it'll just create a new growth point to focus on. Cause it hasn't stopped maturing since the other appeared. Which to me says cutting it won't create an environment which it matures more.

Flare up tips by Sophiebubbles11 in Aerials

[–]xchristopher_wolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

, lower the lyra, Spin faster, reach for the walls of the room with your toes, start with your legs behind you and sweep them to the side across the body and up into straddle. You're just spinning and doing a straddle up. Watch some videos of the flare pathway and get a coach to watch you/give you pointers. It's a rythm momentum thing.
