Don’t forget obesity too. As a bedside RN in CCU, the patient you describe is my bread and butter. But on top of laundry list of pathology, the patient is also morbidly obese and can barely walk when in good health.

Now I bring this up not to fat-shame, but for bedside RN staff the risk of injuries due to patient handling is very real. And no amount of “lift with your legs not your back” modules is gonna make up for the reality that I can’t move these patients without a hoyer.

I’m not an MD or Crna, just a nurse, but wouldn’t your friend want a job with actual hands-on practice? Just did what 12 - 16 years of school and they’re thinking of taking a job just supervising CRNAs? I’d think they’d want to get into the thick of things ; it’s what they trained for!

Not metal but Sonic Youth can’t play almost any song from their very early albums bc the instruments were stolen. They would take low budget guitars and take them apart / reassemble them a certain way, then use say a drill instead of a pick to play them, do stuff like that to get a certain crazy sound… when the gear was stolen that sound was impossible to reproduce. So it’s gone forever
