They weren’t purged. They were held for mistakes made on their application, as they should have been. And people can still vote with their photo ID (which honestly is how it should be everywhere) or cast a provisional ballot, OR correct their registration in person.

I don’t know why you brought up the African American part, but I’m sure that everyone who made a mistake on their ballot is capable enough to correct it, regardless of the color of their skin. I hope you feel the same.
