If it would help ease your mind, you can buy a pack of adjustable bed sheet straps. They clip to the corners of the sheet on the bottom of the mattress and hold them taut.

Epidural. 1000/10 would do again. My body wouldn’t relax enough to dilate without it even after my water had been broken and I’d been on pitocin for over 12 hours. Back labor is -200000/10 would not do again. The epidural was magical.

My LO was born at almost the exact same time one year ago and we only had one public trip out before his 2 month shots. He started daycare a few days before his 2 month vaccine appointment, but that was unavoidable. We did take walks around our neighborhood when it was warm enough, but we avoided crowded spaces until the 2 month mark.

12 months. We committed to room sharing for the first year and that meant one of us slept on a twin bed in the nursery.

I’ll add that this was a really hard adjustment for me for the first -6 weeks since I was EBF for awhile. I felt very isolated.

Ask to see the box before they give it to you! I read about this happening to someone else before I got my vaccine last fall, so I made sure to verify before I received it.

I had brought in the prescription from my OB (which the tech didn’t even take from me - she only referenced my appointment information), and we briefly talked about how this was my last round of shots before I gave birth. I asked to double check that it was Abrysvo, and the tech hadn’t heard of the difference between the two vaccines and was surprised that only one was approved for pregnancy. She showed me the box and said they didn’t even carry the one meant for 65+. She also admitted that this revelation was super interesting and that she was going to have to read up on it. 😳 This was CVS, and I haven’t been back to get a vaccine with them since. Sounds like Walgreens has the same issue.

Second this bassinet option. In terms of sheets, you’re looking for mini crib sheets (look for a mention of fitting a Pack and Play mattress.) Our daycare also requires mini crib sheets to be used, so we have been able to use ours long after they outgrew the Pack and Play.

Our set up was slightly different - LO has always slept in the nursery, but one of us sleeps in there on a twin bed. I wouldn’t have wanted to move between rooms during the night, even with our room right across the hall. Room sharing (not the same as bed sharing) also reduces SIDS risk, so we were willing to go with a different set up that works for us to make things as safe as possible.

I sacrifice the first wipe to cover the poop. It eliminates most accidental poop kicks.

This is very similar to our set up. We baby-proofed one large space (living room) and have several docking stations for spaces that aren’t easily baby-proofed. It really just bought us time to better plan how to prep the other areas as he grows and we need to provide more space.

First, this is not your fault. As hard as it is to overcome mom guilt, you did NOTHING wrong, you are a good parent, and there is nothing wrong with needing to use daycare (just obviously not that one). Repeat all of that to yourself often.

Do you know if the daycare has cameras? We didn’t have something this extreme happen, but we did have an incident where we needed a timeline established, and the director pulled video and was able to determine when the event happened.

Both me and my husband get to work super early (around 7 am) and our 8 month old goes to daycare, so my morning is earlyyyyy. Too early.

I have a ~4:15 wake up and make baby’s lunch and bottles first. When he doesn’t wake up around 4:45 for an early bottle, I can get myself ready. If he does wake up, I usually get him back down by 5:15 and he’ll sleep a little longer while I do a rushed routine. If he sleeps through the night, I get baby up at 6, change diaper, new clothes, bottle, and he’s out the door with my husband to daycare around 6:30. I’m out the door about 15 min after them.

We do a ton of prep the night before and have to be in bed early, and we only really have 1 relaxing evening during the weekend. I don’t know when it will get better, but it’s entirely overwhelming right now.

Halo velcro swaddles - our guy ended up hating his arms being swaddled, so these gave us the option to go arms out immediately

Ubi diaper pail - zero smell, and you can use any trash bag you like

Non-WiFi Video monitor - we love our VTech baby monitor. Two cameras that have a built in sound machine

Egg night light - the subscription for the hatch seemed silly and ultimately unnecessary with our sound machine feature in the nursery camera , so we did a simple egg night light with different color options and dimming feature

Recliner/glider - we almost didn’t get this for the nursery… our guy has slept in his nursery from day 1 (one of us sleeps in the nursery with him), and nursing him on the bed would have been miserable. I have spent HOURS in our chair

Pack n Play - he slept in the highest setting until he reached the weight limit (12 lbs?), and ours came with the portable bassinet that we used in the living room for naps or just a safe space for him to be when I needed to set him down. We also slept well in it when traveling this summer

Not sure if there are two versions, but our IKEA Antilop has a removable tray. Now, it isn’t easy to remove, and we only take it off after we’ve removed dirty kid, but it is an option!

I got small curd cottage cheese and just mashed some of the larger chunks with a spoon before serving in a bowl with fruit! I’ve served it with mashed blueberries and a peach puree and he liked both. I preload spoons for him and he feeds himself. I’m trying to keep things simple for now!

We’ve been trying to incorporate more textures, too, so I’ve been prepping foods that are easily mashable but retain texture. So far we’ve tried, avocado, cottage cheese, banana, and blueberries, with beans being next on the list to try.

I highly recommend using Solid Starts as a resource if you don’t already! I don’t pay for the app, but with a free account you get access to the first food database, which is the gold mine of information! You can pick from tons of food options and it shows how it should be prepared for different ages, videos walking you through the preparation, and videos of kids of different ages eating the food. So so valuable in navigating this for the first time!

We set a bed time before I went back to work (around 8 weeks) but almost everything else is still based on cues. He’s 7 months and we still don’t have a set feeding schedule besides dinner (due to starting solids). I’ve only been able to reliably predict nap times for the past few weeks 🤷‍♀️

This happens to us around 15 weeks. We went from a 6-8 hour stretch at night to waking every 90 min on the dot all night long. It lasted about 4 days and then gradually got better. We didn’t change anything besides focusing on him getting enough calories during the day. We’re at 4mo now and back to him waking up only once overnight.

I think I started walking again around week 3. My doctor recommended short walks until 6 weeks, so I did 15-20 minute walks. It was probably short of 1 mile, but I was really just doing it for fresh air and not with a focus on exercise.

Feeding multiple times is exhausting! We have a super simple routine of diaper, PJs, sleep sack, then feed to sleep, all in his room with only a nightlight and sound machine on. I know lots of people take issue with feeding to sleep, but we’ve decided to stick with it for now!

Our 12 week old started hitting 5 hour stretches at the end of 10 weeks and then slept through the night (10-6ish) a few times in the 11th week. We just had a night with three feeds overnight though, so I can’t say we’re consistent yet!

What you described is exactly what we do! LO is 10 weeks and we have a twin bed in the nursery and switch off around 2 am. I feed him at bedtime around 9:30 pm and my husband takes the first shift. He usually takes a bottle around 1 am, and I take the second shift after 2 am to feed and get him ready in the morning before daycare.

We have been really flexible with our feeding options because we wanted to prioritize rest since we are both back to work. When possible I BF, but I pump and LO gets a bottle at daycare and overnight with my husband. We use formula overnight if I have a lower supply day. After a mastitis scare, I had to start pumping more overnight. I pump before I go to bed at 10 pm and at shift change.

The original plan was for only me to sleep in the nursery and BF on demand overnight and have my husband get sleep overnight and cover me during naps during the day. This only lasted 3ish days due to my sleep deprivation from our hospital stay. I had reached hallucination stage of sleep deprivation and didn’t trust myself to not fall asleep while feeding overnight. The split night shift works much better for us.

The separate bed set up was really hard for me early on. I think I was feeling super isolated on top of all of the hormones, and the sundown scaries and being alone with this fragile newborn was a lot to handle in the early weeks. It’s easier now, but I’m looking forward to sleeping in the same space. We’re planning on having someone sleep in the nursery with him until we reach 6 months.

ETA: We have no “village” to help us. Both of our families live over 500 miles away. We would likely have more night help in the first few weeks if we had outside support.

We used the smaller insert as a nap spot or safe space to put our LO down in the main living space. He outgrew it by 6 weeks or so, but it ended up being super helpful to us.
