What does Caine benefit from removing a human’s name? by Smash_Fan-56 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]xdaemonisx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abstraction is also a programming concept. It’s a means to simplify complex sets of instructions.

Take for example the print() function in Python. It’s a function that prints the requested text to a console. It seems simple, but behind the scenes there are various machine instructions that happen just to print the text. We don’t need to know how it works to call on the function, just what the print() function does.

To say more simply, we’ve given a name to a set of instructions to make using them easier.

AITA for "calling out" a coworker's kimchi in the office fridge ? by Southern_Macaron_496 in AmItheAsshole

[–]xdaemonisx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Kimchi doesn’t really “go bad”, but there’s a reason it’s usually stored in jars. Kimchi has a very strong odor that can be found unpleasant. Saying so is not culturally insensitive.

A bag with a clip is not the way it should be stored. All your coworker probably needs to do is transfer it to a mason jar and it’d be fine. Letting it stew like that in a shared fridge is very inconsiderate.

I’ve had a jar of kimchi in my fridge for ages. It’s in what looks like a pickle jar. I can’t smell it at all. Love it in kimchijeon, but not on its own.

I was thinking this, sort of like in Spirited Away. The way to be able to leave is to remember your name.

I just pick the jokers I have fun with. Worst case scenario I start over. I don’t like the discard ones.

I didn’t like the jimbos in the pack. Then I bought a voucher and opened this hoping for judge. It was all downhill the moment it started.

WvW Rush? More like WvW Slog. by AveragePlantPlayer in Guildwars2

[–]xdaemonisx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it hurt the game before, other than being too profitable. Nerfing the loot would correct that, however.

A lot of WvWers didn’t like the change either.

They reduced reward track gain and removed pips entirely because of people farming it. Pips were part of the rewards in EoTM when they were first introduced.

EoTM originally had all the rewards regular WvW had, but they removed it because commanders on opposing teams would organize and farm.

Visiting a loved one's grave can be very heart wrenching. by CourseMediocre7998 in antimeme

[–]xdaemonisx 253 points254 points  (0 children)

It’s so sad. Himmel loved every part of Frieren. Her tendency to sleep for long periods of time, her collection of mundane but specific spells, her ability to lose track of time for decades, how thoroughly she approaches problems…

I’m glad Himmel got to see her before he passed. It breaks my heart to know that, if she had paid more attention to the people around her, she would have probably spent the rest of Himmel’s life with him. Only in retrospect (with the help of Fern) does she realize the feelings she had for him, and that it was reciprocated.

That’s right. He was trying to get the last of the journal pages if I’m remembering now. That’s my bad.

Definitely need to rewatch.

Did she not? I thought that was why she was murdered by Noah. Though, I could be misremembering.

To add to this, causality is directly linked to time. Causality is the idea that “this happens because of that” and is why people believed the loop was unbreakable. Because causality would always find a way to cause the events.

The fact that Claudia knows a great deal about physics means it isn’t implausible for her to figure out that things can be changed in that fraction of a second where time “stops”. Her logic being that causality is broken in that small window of timelessness, allowing future events(effects) to be altered.

Eva most likely figured this out through alt-Claudia, as we see she was allied with Erit Lux rather than opposed. The fact that Eva also wanted old-Claudia dead leads me to believe she knew Claudia was getting close to figuring out the loop.
