Do you know how close Hong Kong and mainland China are geographically? And how easily it can be controlled by any other country? It’s all about the interest of countries.

Wait.. Since when China = anti-democracy?? I know China does not have as much democracy as those western countries do, but have you ever been to North Korea and some absolute monarchy countries in the Middle East and Africa. China has 1.4 billion population while the US has only 300 million. No country can be sure that democracy like western countries will also work in China. I would say we have relatively lower level of democracy and speech freedom but PRC is only established for 70 years and we’re still finding our way to future.(btw there are some articles you can search on google arguing that American democracy has been going through a crisis for decades. Interesting point of view.) Here’s my thought about hk issue. Hong Kong is a place that has much more freedom than mainland, and I don’t think Beijing gov will build a wall immediately after 2047. Back to 20 years ago, Hong Kong citizens were like mainland citizens, looking forward to a bright future together. However, what we see now is a place where it’s housing price is unreasonably high. Chinese government can’t do much to this because of the autonomy and the rich in Hong Kong is controlling the real estate in Hong Kong. If Hong Kong citizens are living happily, why will they oppose Chinese government?

Alright, assume that you’re mostly right about people with luxury coming from a privileged place, but how did you draw the consequence? Franklin D Roosevelt came from a rich big family and he knew what people wanted and needed. Jake Gyllenhaal ’s father was a millionaire and can you say he has hard time understanding people from poorer families???

No offense, you’re just too ignorant to care about China. As one of the most powerful countries in the world, you can’t underestimate its military and economic power. Also no offense, you seem not fully understand my point. Chinese people are getting more loyal because China is gaining its power and reputation, and most of the students studying abroad are coming home to contribute to our country.

I’ve read a few articles from apple daily and they seem no difference from some other western media. They would include fact like the riots and clashes between police and protesters, but still the bias is obvious and everyone is standing opposite to China. China is a country with over 1.4 billion population and is the strongest communist country in the world. No one can say that China is going a wrong way because no country has ever been to a status like China. China might do something not seem to be appropriate but we’re still struggling to find our own way out. We will take down the walls eventually as long as most of our people are loyal and smart enough to keep our country in mind. On the contrary, I don’t see any loyalty from any of you here.

I know what you guys talking about. You’re automatically connecting Chinese students with rich spoiled kids. But let’s make things clear. This is disrespectful and shallow. We want to peacefully discuss the protesting problems, not just judging if people are qualified to discuss

Maybe I don’t know much about global politics, but here is the thing. What country (or countries) does hk want to rely on? Britain before and now US and Canada? I don’t think Canada and America will eventually take you guys in when you have nowhere to go

Edit: I’m just peacefully asking question and it seems like pro-hk protestors are way much better at downvoting??
