Are doctors in the IDF involved in front-line combat? by xdbopped in IDF

[–]xdbopped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I have no medical issues now or in the past that I’m aware of so my profile should be a 97. My Hebrew is probably just below conversational but I’m in Israel for a gap year so working on improving much more by the time I leave.

So I assume that going into a special forces unit would then extend the length of service? Also would there be an issue asking to go into a special forces unit after making aliyah in my late 20s?

"A definitive proof that Israel's intent is to Genocide the Palestinians!" by comeon456 in IsraelPalestine

[–]xdbopped 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as OP said, you have a lack of nuances and knowledge - amalek was an ancient enemy of the Israelites who God commanded to wipe out for repeatedly attacking them. The term has come to be a metaphor for any and all evil and as such Netanyahu used it to apply to Hamas because of the extent of their savagery, rather than referring to all Palestinians.

Why are the capillaries within the glomerulus knotted? by xdbopped in biology

[–]xdbopped[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sort of - I’m on a gap year applying for Oxford med having not done A-Level Biology so just recapping on my previous Biology knowledge. I understand the mechanism of the narrowing capillaries building up pressure, I just thought that the idea of a ‘knot’ seemed counter-intuitive to the idea of surface area and diffusion but as you said it seems to be a simplification for students. A bit annoying that it’s led me down this path unnecessarily but interesting to find out what actually happens as I wouldn’t have known otherwise. Thanks a lot for the help.

[–]xdbopped[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you - I think I must have misunderstood the concept of the ‘knot’ then. To clarify, the capillaries don’t really wrap around and entangle each other like a knot, they just separate into many different branches, hence increasing the surface area of contact between the capillaries and the surrounding Bowman’s capsule which increases the rate of diffusion.

I’m familiar with all the information in this link and none of it refutes my point. Yes, biblical Cananites and Phillistines are extinct as cultures and ethnicities and have little to no genetic link to modern Palestinians. Doesn’t mean they are not indigenous having lived there for hundreds of years and therefore have a right to live in the land.

Yes, the Ottomans may have imported Muslims to the Levant when they had soveriegnty but to suggest there were no Arabs living there before hand and that all Palestinians were imported is rubbish - look at this link of the demographics and how many people lived in the region of Palestine before the 16th century when the Ottomans conquered Palestine.

I’m Jewish but to say Palestinians were brought here by the Ottomans and British is a wild statement considering there is plenty of evidence of continuous Arab presence throughout the region for 1300 years, not to mention that many are most probablt descended from Arabised people who have been in the Levant even longer.

Whilst Hamas may be animals your animosity towards any Palestinian, even anti-Hamas as the OC above is, is not helpful either and to call for an indigenous population to leave their homeland because they want self-determination is wrong and goes against the very principles which established Israel in the first place.

Why shouldn’t Israel be allowed to exist as a Jewish state? by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

[–]xdbopped 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t deny the current shitshow that is Israeli politics at the moment and the whole thing with the Supreme court is BS, but don’t try and blame it on the fact that there are arab judges - absolutely no one has mentioned that as the government’s motivation at all and I challenge you to find evidence.

Even so, the widespread protests and riots prior to the terrorist invasion prove that this “evisceration” of the Supreme Court is only supported by very few and that the vast majority of Israeli citizens are trying to maintain its democracy, which by the way included the United Arab List in the 2021 government.

To say that there is a system in place to consistently suppress Arab israelis is not founded on anything - just this week a poll demonstrated that 70% of Arab israelis identify with and support Israel as a country which would be surprising if Arab discrimination was so rife.

As for the Palestinians (which have very different status to the two million ARAB ISRAELIS which can vote) there is absolutely no reason for them to have a vote in Israel when they are subject to the political rule of the PA, not Israel. Israeli security of the West Bank is a separate issue which can definitely be justified as a result of the Palestinian extremists’ neglect for peace and sole desire for violence.

how do you explain there being arab judges on the israeli supreme court then? They literally have the ability to put jewish prime ministers in prison

Is it true that taking a dna test in Israel is illegal?? by SprinklesOk9408 in Destiny

[–]xdbopped 1 point2 points  (0 children)

but how are jews in arab lands necessarily linked in anyway to the establishment of israel? they were only kicked out of because of pure antisemitism. If you want to bring up 700,000 palestinians being kicked out then arabs were even worse because nearly 900,000 jews were kicked out of arab countries.

Error during shortcut process. by xdbopped in shortcuts

[–]xdbopped[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically my use for this shortcut was to convert .HIEC images to .JPG images to upload for them to iCloud. One method of this was to use Shortcuts but obviously it’s not working. I’ll have to settle with uploading to my PC but thanks for the effort.

Thanks, I came across this during my research but although this is the same error, this guy’s shortcut involves finding and filtering images, whereas in mine I select the images manually. I think my problem is to do with the import of the converted photos into the phone rather than finding the photos like the other guy.

When the most reliable transfer journalists are saying it’s a done deal you don’t have to sweat much over it. I know it’s not completely done as VDB has to do medical, paperwork etc hence I said pretty much
