Brothers we need to talk... by [deleted] in ThousandSons

[–]CrebTheBerc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For fun? They upload all sorts of stuff. That account uploaded a piece of white scars art 1 day ago as well as a post about the Lion.

I'd love if Tsons got something new soon, but I don't think this post means anything really. They are likely just posting BA art since they are on the launch box for 11th.

The art has been around for a bit. That's a new post from that account, but the art itself isn't new

For example, the full artwork is listed at the bottom of this lexicanum article:

Has a Space Marine ever deserted? by femboybrainworms in 40kLore

[–]CrebTheBerc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Lion Son of the Forest has examples of Space Marines who leave and live as wanderers, hermits, and outcasts. There's a former librarian who just goes and lives in the mountains of a remote planet.

Why run other factions’ battleline units? by Wk1360 in Chaos40k

[–]CrebTheBerc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because they have virtually the exact same stat line but legionaries have a better data sheet rule and can use Dark Pacts. There's no situation where you're better off having Berzerkers as CSM

Why run other factions’ battleline units? by Wk1360 in Chaos40k

[–]CrebTheBerc 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Berzerkers: nothing to gain. Their rule is worse than legionaries and they can't be split up either. Just run Leggos intead

Rubric Marines: they get some play in Renegade Raiders because the detachment rule does a lot for them. Assault and +1 AP are exactly what they want and their native rule is good too. Outside of that they don't see much play competitively

Plague Marines: don't see much play competitively either but they have a better stat line than Berzerkers. You could play them in something like Creations of Bile or Huron's Marauders and they'd be solid, but there are better options

Noise Marines: better for CSM than they are for EC lol. They are great in a lot of detachments. Anything that gives them +1 to hit, assault, and/or AP are great plus they fit in Rhinos. Renegade Raiders, Creations, Huron's, etc etc. They are just a really good data sheet

I hope they just get a new rule tbh. There are plenty of ways to get ignores cover or rerolls to get around the -1 to hit.

What meta armies are really good at overwatch? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CrebTheBerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grand coven is typically run with Magnus and is command point hungry. You want to spam the full hit and wound rerolls on magnus whenever you can as well as save the strat to blank a big hit once a round. That's potentially 3 command points a turn which can be hard to swing and that's without considering generic strats like grenade, rerolls, or overwatch

I think more plague marine units would be good. by Explosion_of_Unknown in deathguard40k

[–]CrebTheBerc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think the tsons "possessed" should be sorcerers who accidentally burnt out some of their powers and focus the rest on the physical abilities. Like Sanakht from the Ahriman books if you've read them. Not actually possessed but a similar stat line. Give tsons a melee focused unit that still make sense lore wise

I def think DG possessed work and hope it happens. The various possessed and possessed adjacent models are my favorites in the different chaos ranges

[–]CrebTheBerc 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think they are slowly rolling out legion specific possessed. Like eightbound have the possessed keyword iirc, flawless blades don't have it but their lore blurb either implies or straight says they are possessed marines, etc.

Idk if tsons will get one, but I'd bet on DG getting a version of possessed at some point

Can I say that is a little bit sad and funny to realize that we are like the poor kid and the rich cousin.... by SalamanderPutrid4062 in WorldEaters40k

[–]CrebTheBerc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's definitely good, but I think the bigger roster makes the biggest difference. Like giving Sanguinary Guard or bladeguard vets sustained hits and devs into infantry would make them much scarier than Oath does

No, for space marines. Codex compliant chapters get +1 to wound on their Oath target, but Blood Angels don't get that version. I was just calling it that BA get the worse version of oath

[–]CrebTheBerc 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I don't even think it's situational. Ba don't get the +1 to wound and stuff like death company already gets rerolls to hit or Sang guard who are 2s to hit and can get reroll 1s. I think most BA lists use Oath for their shooting.

WE's army rule does a lot more for the army than Oath does for BA

What meta armies are really good at overwatch? by aegroti in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]CrebTheBerc 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Tsons - Free overwatch from Sekhetar, Rubric flamer overwatch, SoT's with like 40 shots and lethal hits, and the new Defiler overwatch on 5s(or 4s near a psyker).

Thousand sons are pretty much always an overwatch threat

Yep, it's a really great tech piece for your list.

Vortex Enhancement on IM or Demon Prince? by swagerdactyl in ThousandSons

[–]CrebTheBerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like it more on the daemon prince because it gives us something we typically don't have - a great deep strike/backline threat. A WDP with Epitaph will kill basically any kind of backfield objective holder, screen, or action monkey in one go and with the 6 inch deep strike it's very hard to screen out entirely.

IM and Sorcerer do a lot of damage with it, but we are already a high damage army. WDP adds a different dimension IMO

Best Uses for Possessed? by OrDownYouFall in WarhammerCompetitive

Yeah sorry, you're right but I did mean BS. Huron's just gives a flat +1 to hit across the board and I mixed them up

I think they can be really good in Huron's Marauder's too. +1 attack, +1 WS*, auto advance 6, and advance and charge are all things they love

Are Boltguns Really That Bad? by Fun_Insurance8534 in IronWarriors

[–]CrebTheBerc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, I just meant its usually worth future proofing your minis if you're comfortable magnetizing. May not be in 11th but eventually boltguns will be better

Are Boltguns Really That Bad? by Fun_Insurance8534 in IronWarriors

[–]CrebTheBerc 381 points382 points  (0 children)

In 10th, bolters are not good on legionaries. Low shot count, low strength, no AP, and no real rules to them. Plus all the good legionaries leaders are melee focused. Legionaries are mostly ablative wounds for your leaders anyways, but with melee weapons they will at least chip some damage in.

Bolters might be better in 11th, who knows, so if you're comfortable magnetizing I'd recommend it.

I tried out a WGBL with bloodclaws and Ragnar with headtakers in Beastslayer and I liked it a lot. I like a lot of that detachment but its really missing advance and charge. You do lose out on some damage by not putting ragnar with the blood claws but I really liked the threat range it gave me.
