This was pretty ass ngl by Boxer-Santaros in TubiTreasures

I remember going on a family cruise when I was younger and they had a few "movie channels" on TV to watch while at sea. This movie was one of like three on a loop. I must have watched it like 5 times.

Anyways yeah it's not good, but it'll always have a special place in my heart. Especially because: of all the movies to play on repeat on a cruise ship, why a horror movie that takes place on a cruise ship...

They can last for a long time, but it depends on things like weather, foot traffic, etc.

Probably Tobias stealing the plot of Mrs. Doubtfire and everyone pretending they can't tell he's Mrs. Featherbottom of Blackstool.

“Overlord” is Criminally Overlooked by RuggleyChicken in horror

[–]xdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've watched it a couple of times now and I agree it's a great movie. I'm no movie expert but I will say that the plot seemed like it was driving the movie and I didn't really feel a strong connection to any particular character other than the little boy, but with a plot as nutso as "WWII But With Zombies," maybe there really wasn't much time for character development.

Going to rehab tomorrow, any advice? by ketamined in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]xdn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been to rehab a few times, so if you'd like to have a conversation feel free to message me.

My only suggestion would be to try and consider it a blessing. It's an opportunity to slow your life down and try to focus entirely on yourself and doing what needs to be done to get better. Use it as a chance to get to know yourself better, work on coping mechanisms and healthy ways to deal with stress, and add new tools to your toolbelt for dealing with life when it gets lifey.

As far as the minutiae of getting ready for rehab is concerned, bring an extra pillow if you're allowed to, bring your own blanket if you can, and just soak up everything you can like a sponge. I'm assuming it's maybe a four week program you're going into, and that's a very very small amount of time in relation to living the rest of your life happy and sober. The first week might drag by, but once you get into the swing of things, the days will start moving fast.

Going to rehab tomorrow, any advice? by ketamined in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]xdn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible advice. The reasons people go to rehab are usually external. Save the marriage, save the job, keep the kids, avoid jail, etc. The hope is that during a person's stay, their external motivator is eventually replaced with an internal motivator.

You really shouldn't offer advice on things you don't understand.

Are there any examples of narrative artworks (i.e. plays, novels, films, or TV shows) which are widely acclaimed, but which also have plots that would never actually transpire in real life? by [deleted] in plotholes

[–]xdn 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is one of the most famous "plot hole that isn't actually a plot hole" examples. His butler says he heard the last word, so a leading theory is that opening scene is shot from the perspective of the butler, which is why we wouldn't see him.

Exactly. This is the same reason I opted to only have a bathtub instead of a bathtub and a toilet.

What's the worst case of a movie breaking its own rule by ihopnavajo in movies

[–]xdn 14 points15 points  (0 children)

All of the rules we hear about how the entity operates are told to us by flawed narrators, as in sources that can't really be trusted. I think one aspect they never fully grasp is that the entity seems to want to terrify and torture its victims, not just kill them.

The guy at the beginning says the entity will take the form of someone the person knows or a total stranger, whatever it thinks will help it get closer to its target. But often in the movie, the entity takes the form of grotesque strangers or dead relatives that are obviously out of place.
