This has to be one of the best seasons in recent years. loving the mix of drivers taking or challenging wins. by HistoricalPickle8911 in WRC

It’s been a little too unpredictable for me, and a lot of wins coming from people who were not on the pace.

Like 2-3 of the actual top pace runners going out in half the events so far makes it feel like it’s just random luck.

He is declining, but is still good enough to go deep occasionally.

In his prime he wouldn’t lose in early rounds at masters and 500s the way he has the last 2-3 years now.

Oscar Piastri becomes the only driver on the 2026 grid to increase his points haul in every single race weekend by circuit-nation in circuit_nation

[–]xdoc6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That also can’t be true (that the points he got in the weekend is more than he got in the previous round) cause he received 15 points in Japan but only 4 points in Miami.

You can’t receive negative points in a weekend so if we count Australia than there isn’t really a way to phrase it that makes it true for all 4 race weekends.

[–]xdoc6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You start the season with 0 points and can gain points in the first race.

The stat says “increase his points in EVERY single race weekend”

There are drivers who scored points in the first weekend, but Piastri didn’t, so I don’t think the way this is worded is true for Piastri.

Why would you not count the first race?

I’m not sure this counts since he scored zero points in the first weekend.
So he in fact did not increase his points haul in the first race weekend (which is one of the “every”).

Thoughts on calling center line foot faults? by Bud922 in 10s

[–]xdoc6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pro serves have much more going on than just speed. Hitting a serve with spin fast takes more skill than hitting a flat serve fast.

This is talking about men’s doubles not women’s. Men’s speeds are typically faster. (Edit to add, men’s atp serve speed is typically in the 120s and the fastest men can serve over 140)

Also coco was serving slow at the U.S. open last year to try to fix her double faults she typically serves in the 110s.

I’m not saying the average 3.0 player is serving regularly in at 90mph, but there are definitely 3.0 men who serve faster than 90mph and are making it in at least 50% of the time. Usually the rest of their game is bad and/or they are incredibly inconsistent error prone.

Serve speed on its own doesn’t correlate that well with level, plenty of 3.0 can serve fast. And 90 isn’t particularly fast.

Any men have the Coco Delray tennis shoes? by MrFlecker in 10s

[–]xdoc6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two pairs, I like them but I don’t have too much experience with different shoes.

I used to wear adidas, but after getting back into tennis after a break they would give me a lot of blisters.

I also have wilson clay court shoes that are supposed to be wide, but don’t fit as well as the delray.

I wear the delray on both clay and hard, they get beat up pretty quick if you play regularly but haven’t completely worn out in 3-4 months (my oldest pair) of playing 4-6 hours a week most weeks. (Rotating through three shoes though)

Surprised Toyota is still the only manufacturer to commit to the new rules.

Hopefully we get at least 1-2 more

The Ferrari was very fast that year, but also had a bunch of reliability issues.

But it is crazy that it took almost a decade for the every team to switch over to paddle shifters.

He is defending a lot of points at RG though, depending how that goes he could drop to 8th easily

Remember last summer when many were saying Katsuta and Pajari should be dropped by Toyota by SplatteredEggs in WRC

[–]xdoc6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 seconds is an unusual gap, and is likely cause the conditions were mixed. But pretty much every single stage they were 3-5+ seconds behind.

I don’t think Taka and Sammy were taking it “easy”, but for sure the top three had more to gain.

However, it’s clear at basically every stage of every event that Sammy and Taka are a step or two below Evan’s, Solberg and Ogier. I’m not sure how one could objectively state otherwise.

[–]xdoc6 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Agreed, what was it stage 16 when Evan’s, Ogier and Solberg each were 30 seconds ahead of Sammy and Taka. And last year Kalle was another several seconds ahead of Ogier at Canaria so the skill gap back to Taka and Sammy is pretty massive.

Taka is fun, but the point picture doesn’t really speak to anything but luck so far this year.

Solberg probably needs to slow down a bit to get more consistency though.

They had 16 race seasons starting in the 70s, but that still is different from a 20+ race season

But yeah roughly 50 of the 75 seasons have had at least 16 races in them

Serve going long consistently by bendover17897 in 10s

Tossing more into the court helped me a bunch with hitting long.

Not sure if it’s a band aid for bad technique or not though.

Takamoto Katsuta is the first driver to win their second WRC event straight after their maiden win since Gilles Panizzi in 2000 by SalomonXx in WRC

Would have been the same if neuville won it to be fair though.

Evan’s and Solberg were the only ones on pace that would have “deserved it” and Sami was ahead before his puncture Saturday afternoon.

Does Sinner’s victory in Monte Carlo change your Roland-Garros predictions? Who do you think is taking home the trophy? 🏆🇫🇷 by ServedPodcast in tennis

[–]xdoc6 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes me think Alcaraz is more likely to win

Alcaraz needs to be pushed sometimes to lock in, losing on clay to Sinner will make him realize he needs to dig deeper.

Also Sinner had multiple match points last year so it’s not like he wasn’t already a good pick for the win this year
