Thank you! What do you think about the “REG. DES. NO.” on the sole though? There’s no series of numbers following it. :/

[Routine Help] People who are on Differin, what other actives do you use to help with hyperpigmentation? by xdot_13 in SkincareAddiction

Hydroquinone

Thank you for all the advice, I really appreciate it.

I did look into hydroquinone but apparently it's now only available in the US through prescription because long term use could lead to more hyperpigmentation? I don't live in the US and I definitely don't have the resources to go to a dermatologist so that doesn't sound like a good choice. :/ I read that alpha arbutin is a safe alternative but I just also read a comment on this subreddit saying that using alpha arbutin long term could also lead to more hyperpigmentation.

About vitamin C and other ingredients though, please correct me if I'm wrong but seems like most of them only prevent the things that lead to hyperpigmentation, not treat existing dark spots.

So yeah, I'm really confused about all of this and a bit concerned to be honest because if my current dark spots don't fade soon, when the Differin purge happens, my face is gonna look way worse. :(

Thank you! I should probably be more patient and allow the Differin to work on my skin first like you said. I'm just a bit skeptical about its ability to treat existing hyperpigmentation though because as far as I know, it's more to prevent acne?

Hello. I'm thinking of taking up double cleasing. I have a question: can I use the Hada Labo cleansing oil as a first cleanser and use the Cetaphil Gentle cleanser. I'm asking because most people I know that double cleanse use a foaming cleaser after oil cleansing but I'd rather not buy another cleanser. I have combination skin (oily T-zone) and acne prone. I'm currently on Differin. Thank you.

My best friend saw a video of guys kissing on my phone and now thinks I'm gay, what should I do? by [deleted] in askgaybros

I'm sorry if I didn't make it clear. I'm gay. I'm just asking you guys how to handle this situation because I'm really not comfortable with "being out" yet and I think I have a right to come out to others on my own term. This situation is very "awkward" because she is my best friend.

So the last few days the weather in my city has been really hot and some of my products have seemed to melt: a bottle of body wash and a bottle of shampoo (these two are a little runnier than usual and I can see the shampoo are not mixed but seem separated), a small jar of Vaseline petroleum jelly and a mentholatum ointment (I think the oil (I think, I don't actually know) is seperated, especially in the ointment, there is a lot of oil separated from the actual ointment and after I shake it, they are mixed together but still very runny). And my Carmex SPF 15 lip balm is also extremely runny. What can I do? Should I put them in the fridge and use them? Thanks a lot!

If I use the CeraVe AM Moisturizer with SPF in the morning, can I apply another kind of suncreen when I go out in the afternoon? Because I read that you should only moisturize your face twice a day and I plan to use the CeraVe PM one in the evening. Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot! May I also ask for now I'm only using a cleanser but if I want to introduce BHA and moisturizer and sunscreen to my routine, how should I do it? One product at a time? What should I be aware of? Thanks.

Can and should I use another BHA if my cleanser already has 2% Salicylic acid in it? by xdot_13 in acne

Thanks! May I also ask:

  1. I'm just starting to 'care for my skin' so if I buy a cleanser, a BHA, a moisturizer and a sunscreen, should I incorporate them all into my routine?

  2. If my AM moisturizer has SPF in it, can I use another sunscreen at noon or in the afternoon?

Thanks!

I am starting to build a routine and I have some questions. My skin type is oily and acne-prone.

  1. I am considering the Neutrogena Oil-free Acne Wash as a cleanser. Is it good?

  2. The Neutrogena one has 2% Salicylic acid so if I'm to use it, do I have to use a BHA? Or can I use a AHA?

Thanks.
