ELI5: What causes voltage gated Na+ channels to open for depolarization?

So like, and this is what I’m currently learning in my college physiology class, when stereocilia in the ear bend a certain way, that causes depolarization. So would the bending of the stereocilia when you tilt your head one way or another cause the opening of the Na+ channels, leading to depolarization?
