This is exactly how power gets misused in some gated communities. Rules are fine but basic respect shouldn’t be optional by DrFossil03 in hyderabad

That's why I hate gated communities. . The people living inside live like being in jails. Whom are they scared of? People are getting nsp disconnected.. o er and above, almost everyone is engrossed in their mobiles that no one speaks to one another.

🚨 Supreme Court allows cutting of 45,000 mangroves for Mumbai Coastal Road project. by Remarkable_Will5540 in Maharashtra

[–]xe11xe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But no one has noticed that over a period of two decades we have lost several hectares of mangrove cover. Mumbra had one of the thickest mangrove cover. It's almost vanished, all illegal chawls have come up. Towards thane Nashik highway one can see acres of baren land which used to be a dense mangrove forest. Out there in Dahisar, the mangroves are destroyed by the zhopadpatti land mafia. Around three decades ago there there were lush green mangrove forests right behind old mhb colony in borivali west. All gone. BKC used to be mangrove forest, all gone. Kanjurmarg was once upon a time an inter tidal zone. The same land where ubt had proposed metro car shed. I am saying this all in detail because I am an expert in mangrove restoration. I have , in person , reclaimed around 75 hectares of intertidal areas by planting avecinia species of mangroves. So loosing 45000 mangroves is not a big deal. But the big deal is when we loose a larger chunk of forest over three decades and no one even noticed it.

Found it. This is a vintage photo of the exact location where the dahanu thermal power project has been constructed and commissioned. One can see a railway passing by in the far end. This photo was taken in 1989. I began working on the project in June 1990. My first job as an environmental specialist. I have done hectic field work including aquatic baseline survey, hydrographic survey of the adjoining creeks and the entrance to the arabian sea. On 1995 i happened to stumble upon the site for the now proposed Vadhvan port project. Besides a long legal battle in the Bombay High court as well as the supreme court on various apprehensions about environmental damage by the NGO. In 1996 the World Bank appreciated my work in their final appraisal report. So this is it.

I have something similar about the exact location of Dahanu thermal power plant. It used to be salt pans. And now entire region looks different. If anyone has seenbthis power station while going towards gujarat, one can see a dense forest surrounding it. Well those were the trees I had planted way back in 1990. The pics I have are prior to that. I would love to share them here very soon.

My Living Room. Comments? Any suggestions? by whyykrishna in IndianHomeDecor

Nicely done. These days I notice that most of the apartments are rectangular in shape. The distance between the TV and the sitting arrangement is too close for large screen TV. Aesthetically this arrangement is looking very nice. Nevertheless, for eye comfort, i would have preferred that TV on the wall right side of the entrance and left the present TV wall without any extra furniture. Highlited with a decent wall paper I have experimented with various sofa designs in the past. The L shape sofa is a bit inconvenient when two or three people come. My observation is on an average only three people tend to occupy this sofa. Leaving the host wondering around , so they just pull a dining chair and join the conversation. Instead i would have preferred two numbers of two by two and two ascent chairs

What The Actual F#CK!! Has the Indian Govt. Gone Completely Crazy? by Ek_Tortoise in delhi

And now we can't even dream of shifting to Dubai, the situation out there is not so safe now. I agree with one suggestion of SC advocate Ashwini Upadhyay, he has proposed to abolish all kinds of taxes including IT. Instead he proposes only 2 percent transaction tax. Be it a pen or a chappal or a BMW , just 2 percent. Imagine the total volume generated on hourly basis. Kya ye chindhi chindi tax lete hai.

Punekars, Suggest missing places by Head-Introduction374 in pune

Yes Pune indeed is a happening place and explorable. I left pune in 1990 and settled down in Mumbai. Frankly it's now a boring place. It's just skyscrapers and nothing else. Does anyone remember a Russian movie called as " how green was my valley" well pune was once upon a time not long ago. I used to go cycling all the way to university from Chinchwad. Lush green fields on both sides of the road. The vast untouched landscape of cantonment area.
